Powder blue tang primer

I have this beauty in quarantine.
I like the yellow part on the anal fin. Never seen that before ☺

Here is my big bone Powder Blue Tang, one of my favorite tangs, today. He is under my care for about 5 years, started from just under 2 inches.

6.5 inches
Thanks
I goof. Just tape a 6 inches piece of paper to the front of the tank, he is a little shy of that so it 5.5 instead of 6.5

There is no clear boss in my tank. The biggest is the Fox Face, then the Chevron tang. The Powder Blue is longer but the Yellow tangs likely out mass him a little and the Purple tang is slightly bigger than the Yellow. In a way, he is the smallest of the tangs and FoxFace.

At night all the fish sleep in the rock structure except the PBT and CBB. Both swimming back and fore in the front of the tank.

Figured I'd contribute my experiences. My PB has been with me for 2 years. Tank footprint is 52x26 very open with tons of flow. He is getting huge now and now I see why people recommend longer tanks. He is gorgeous and super fat and has a voracious appetite. Lately however he is starting to show that notorious aggressive side and is quickly becoming the tank you know what.

Pic from one year ago...

Current Video of tank he's hard to miss....

Same question for me. I have a 100 gallon tank 48x23. Most have said that a 180 gallons is a minimum. Though some have gotten away with 75 gallons. Not really a consensus out there on a particular minimum. Best bet would be to try it for a few years and see how it does, though I'm not an expert. I'm just starting my build right now.

I think you know the answer to this...

No...

A Powder needs AT LEAST a 6 foot long tank.

And the fact that you already have two other Tangs in your 4 foot long tank means it is an extra no no.

Yes, there is a "consensus" from professionals/experts...

Now I wish I could've started with a 160 gallon as my beginner tank. There's a 6ft 165 gallon tank that I was eyeing before committing to the 100 gallon tank that I have now.
