I was told to bring my question here.... I got a MED/LG Powder Blue Tang from a guy and hes been in my system for 48 hrs now and has only take a very few bites of food.... he is NOW in a 4ft 150 gallon system. He stays near the bottom and will sometimes swim up high... he seems to be fighting himself in the corner of the tank sometimes. Was wondering if someone might have ideas on getting him to eat or if he needs time to just settle in... hes 4.5-4.75" He is the biggest fish in the tank now... all I have is a small maroon clown, sm purple tang, sm foxface and a yellow wrasse. Thanks For Any Help!

How much flow do you have in the tank? Tangs love flow. You can temporarily add a large pvc elbow to provide him some cover. He can be without food for a bit as long as he isn't completely wasting away, I wouldn't worry too much

I have two MP40's running at 50% on Reefcrest during the day and 15% on lagoon at night.. also my return pump is a vectra thats running at 50% on the return and an SRO-2000 skimmer! I fed some frozen Formula 2 and his ate a few peices.. not gobbled it by any means but ate a few pieces... better than what he has done in 3 days!

Attach nori to a clip. He'll gobble it up!

Spirulina can also work.

He's fighting with his reflection and swimming up and down because he's still stressed about being in a new environment. Give him time to adjust ;)

Well day 3.... eating a few pieces here and there but is now swimming laps around the tank like a wild fish... LOL... his color looks great and no signs of parasites at all yet and hope that it stays that way... offered frozen food and some nori... ate a few pieces but thats it.....

Its a waiting game. Too early to tell. Keep him in a QT for atleast 30days for observation. Treat if necessary

If you put it directly into your display and you see spots one of two things are true. Either it brought in Ich or is revealing that your tank already had it. Newly introduced fish take a bit of time to settle in so lack of eating wouldn't concern me as much as spots.
