Power center

Looking to build a power center. I have seen several threads on other peoples projects. I have seen alot of people who rewire the Dj mpower strips adding extension plugs. I would like to know how to do that. If someone who has accomplish this please share your experience with me.

Also a question alittle off the subject is: If I want to save an entire thread for reference how can I accomplish that?

Making a PDF file out of it is the best way imo. Or you can save it as a "webpage (complete)" in about any browser. Complete/single file should imbed any images as well.

the extension cords just plug into the power strip...no big secret. from there they power recepts in junction boxes.

as for the reference question: scroll to the very bottom of the page you want to save and click to "subscribe". when you log on to "my rc" you will see it.

I want to hard wire the extention cords into the powerstrip, so I can have the strip at a remote location.

lilchris, I am with you, anyone have some pics? I would like to try one on my new setup, and I don't particularly like to monkey around with power lines, if you know what I mean.

no need to really hard wire it just buy some nice plugs.....:bum:

I ran two 20amp circuts to two quad gfi outlets for my system. The dj or amp strips are good but you need to take care of what they are plugged into. Being a musician and a reefer dedicated power is the only way to go for either application.

thanks for the replies, it is alot more simple that I would have expected, I did not know it was a simple plug and play application.

Why would you wire another plug into the DJ system? Is it to allow for more outlets on equipment that draw less power or is there a reason I am missing?

Mainly to allow you to have the powerstrip at a remote location and not hanging off the side of the display or under w/the sump. That could be very bad if salt creep get in there. Also it could add more outlets, but that is not my concern. I want to build a power center that is going to be away from the display tank.

I built mine for the same reason as lilchris...remote location...and individual power control..I can shut certian parts of the system down independantly..also its more appeasing to the eye..

I built the same one that Meleve has on his website.

Purchased twenty 15 amp outlets with plastic junction boxes. Mounted all this in a wooden box I made and ran them to two seperate lines from my breaker box. Both lines are 15 amps each. One is fed to a 15 amp GFCI that one of the DJ power centers is plugged into. The other feeds a normal 15 amp dual outlet which the other DJ power center connected to it. I then made up three prong grounded plugs with Romex and after connecting each to it's own dual 15 amp outlet plugged it into one of the recepticles on the power center.

Lights, heaters, hood fans and anything else that may fall into the tank are fed off the GFCI line. Return pump, chiller, reactors, CL pump are fed off the non gfci line. I can controll 16 devices (more if I pigtail two devices to one switched outlet on the DJ panel, like my two hood fans).

I'm controlling all this with a Neptune Aqua Controller Jr. using X-10 technology. Hopefully it will be "set it and forget it". I can hope.... :)

I'll post pictures soon.
