So im trying to get some more flow in my 40g, since the only flow at all is coming from my HOB filter when it dumps water back in...any ideas on what powerheads would be good and how many? Koralia, yes or no??? (spelling*) Any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated...

Couple of Koralia #2. Maxjet with kit. Its best to try and put at least 2 in there, that way you can direct flow and not have any real issues with dead spots.

what is maxjet and kit? ive heard koralias leak stray voltage into tank, any truth in that??? and would you happen to know how much they typically run for? LFS told me 56 dollars a piece for Koralia 2's but that sounded a little high to me

$56 for a Koralia #2 is ludacris. Look them up on E-Bay, you will can get 2 #3's for that price. Also, when you do get them, silicone the cord end that goes into the unit, this will increase the odds that it will not leak stray voltage into the water. To answer your question, yes they do leak, thats what the silicone is for. :) MAxjet is a Powerhead, that is modest, but when you add the mod kit, it makes it a very good power head, but, not for the money versus the Koralia. IMO.

Or, you can buy the VorTech Power Head. Its the top of the line. MP40 is adjustable from 1000gph to 3000gph, and the MP20 is adjustable from 500gph to 2000gph. $400 and 300 respectively.

400 or 300 waaay outa my ball park for this tank, maybe if i had something bigger and nicer, but this little tank i want to keep as bare as possible for a good price. koralias sound like a good choice ill definitly silicone it also! good advice reeefer. ya thats what i thought about the price my LFS is fairly overpriced on EVERYTHING...not to stoked on that at all, even the fish are way overpriced, oh well. im moving soon and ill have a new LFS.
What are the Tunze like? moderatly priced?
will powerheads help to increase my coraline growth and cut back on nuisance algae?

any idea on how many i should put in? two K2's or a K2 and a K3...ebay has some good prices just looked, will be purchasing next friday

I just bought two seio 1500s for my 125. $50 each. Pretty happy with them. They put out a lot of flow (1500 gph each) which is fairly gentle. They look good in the tank and run quietly, and for the price, hard to beat.

i have had great experiences with my koralias. i have a pair of 1s, pair of 2s, and pair of 4s. never had any issue with any of them!

Becareful what you buy on EBAY. Some of the Koralias available there are sold there because they were returns and/or had problems.

As for stray voltage, some of the older ones did have an issue but this was true of only a very small percentage. If you happen to have one that leaks voltage, Hydor Customer Service should be able to help you replace it.

I personnally use 2 Koralia 3s in a 58 gal and love them. I am thinking of upgrading to a pair of Koralia 5s on their Wavemaker 2. Should be awesome.
