powerheads

Just wondering what powerheads are people relating to when they say their nem got sucked into. Are the koralia knocks-offs a danger? Enclosed prop and broad area of suction? Will the nem fit through the tiny slits if it gets too close? I have small stomatella (sp?) snails that go all over these powerheads and are fine. I always thought the powerheads that were dangerous where the like the maxijets with one hole for suction and sometimes open propellers. Thought I'd just ask. search didn't come up with much.

To answer your question, yes the Koralia knock-offs, real Koralias, and any other powerhead/closed loop/canister filter/HOB filter/HOB skimmer/etc. is a risk to your anemone.

Think of them as jelly not as a structured animal. They can, and will, get sucked into any opening with suction.

The only way to be 100% safe is to place all intakes behind screening that is expansive enough that the anemone can't cover all of the screening and take damage.

by the time i got home from work, my nem went all inside my mp10. the nem was roughly 3.5" wide. i had him for a couple of months and didn't think he would go that high up in the tank to do that. now i have a foam covering it.

when he went in there, he was all torn apart. had to do a water change and my clown was pretty sad he lost his home and his best friend forever. :(
