Pre Filter for Reactor?

I've been running a new reactor for about 4 weeks. Simple system - a Jebao DCS 2000 pump plumbed via 1/2" pvc through triple chamber reactor with individual control valves and then return to tank.

My trouble is that my media gets fouled with "œstuff" from the tank. Do you guys run a prefilter or ???

Are you using a sump? If so do you use filter socks? Are you using a skimmer? If so pump the water from after the skimmer...

Thanks Mark. My system has internal drip chambers and returns the water under the crushed coral bed... so no sump. Currently, the reactor pump is hidden behind rock work in the display tank. I suppose I could put some minor filtration on the intake, but it would require moving rock work every few days to clean it.

I’m currently plumbing a refugium downstream of the reactor. I could add another pump to the system and let the reactor draw from the first refugium chamber, but I’d rather not add another pump to the system. I’ve got 2 return pumps, 2 skimmer pumps, reactor pump, and 2 pp8 wave system pumps.

Any other ideas?

I am sure I am misunderstanding you, but all I can visualize is by the way you describe it is an old fashion under gravel / crushed coral filter that sits on the bottom of the tank. If you could draw a sketch or send a picture or two I might be able to suggest something else...
