BIOPTIM is for Saltwater. BIOTRACE is for Freshwater.
That's my understanding of it...

You are right. You can use BioTrace in a marine tank though. It has the same ingrediants as the BiOptim, just not as much bacteria. You have to dose double the amount. This is from the main guy from Robsreef.com. I can't look it up right now due to the site not coming up.
Also, the discussion about the open vials, from my understanding is that the only one that can be opened and saved w/ a potato is the reefbooster. Everything else has to be used up. Again from Robsreef.com site. THere is a thread in the Reef discussion forum called Prodibo, they talk about it in there. (Melev, talks about it)
I received my Bioclean kit yesterday and on of the ampules was open. I will try to call Marine depot to see what they can do. This stuff is too expensive to be wasting like that.

As I stated, I want the colors of my colors to be deep and rich. If Prodibio helps with this issue, I will continue to use it. If not, it was a $52.00 expense.

As for the DSB dying, I plan to replace half of my DSB in the Summer, if I am in the mood.
As for carbon media/oversized skimmer, cardon helps with chemical problems. Skimmers are used to remove organic matter, solids and helps with O2 in the water. I would like to have an oversize skimmer, but a budget is a budget.
Therefore, I plan to do water changes every week or bi-weekly to control organic build up. I am currently using a Octopus NW150. It should be able to keep the water clean and it is.
Maybe, after my other desires and obilgations are met, I will invest in another skimmer for my future 120G.

The denitrifying bacteria of an established RDSB/DSB would compete with the bacteria of prodibio. How much so, and the effect I dont know. IIRC, zeo does not suggest the use of a DSB.
Also, Carbon cannot be used instead of a skimmer. The protein skimmer physically exports the bacteria... a quality skimmer is a must.

In simplified terms you are adding the bacs to grow the strains desired, and adding carbon to grow the populations to consumer n&p. If the bacteria die, the nutrients will be released back into the water.
Like with chaeto, the nutrients are not exported until the chaeto is pruned and removed from the tank.

I got back from vacation Tuesday night. I added my second dose of Reefbooster and turned the skimmer off over night. The tank was in good shape when I got in last night.
I have notice that the glass requires less cleaning. I cleaned the glass, but it was not as dirty as before. In the past I would see the buildup on the glass as white hairy stuff, this time, it was very thin and very easy to remove.
Some of my corals have started to change in color. It is hard to tell if it is tan or a dark yellowish color on 2 pieces. I will wait until Friday to photo them.

I dont think you will notice too much difference in the corals in two weeks. You probably will see a difference in water clarity though. My corals started to lighten in about 5 weeks. Once that happens, I would dose some good Amino Acids like Warner Marine's Ultimate Aminos. Week 6-7 start to dose reefbooster. Your corals are looking good!!
