Prodibio BioKit - Will start on Monday evening

After talking to several knowledgeable people, this seems to be the best dosing regimen for the typical system:

6 week Initial Nutrient Reduction Phase:

Week 1:
Wednesday
BioDigest 1amp per 50 gallons (This higher overdose is for the very first day only, some people even do 1amp per 15 gallons)

Saturday
Bioptim 1amp per 50 to 100gallons

Week 2:
Wednesday
BioDigest 1amp (treats up to 250 gallons)

Saturday
Bioptim 1amp per 50 to 100 gallons

Week 3:
Wednesday
BioDigest 1amp (treats up to 250 gallons)

Saturday
Bioptim 1amp per 50 to 100 gallons

Week 4...,5...,6....

...continue this process for apprx 6 weeks until nutrient levels drop. Notice you are dosing the ampoules once per week, just on different days during the same week. Do NOT use Reefbooster during this initial 6 week nutrient reduction phase.

After week 6 Pintail Nutrient Reduction Phase, your 'real' more long-term dosing regimen begins.

Nutrient Reduction Long-Term maintenance Phase
Week 1: BioDigest (1 amp treats up to 250g)
ReefBooster

Week 2: BioOptim (1amp treats apprx 50-100gallons)

Week 3: BioDigest (1 amp treats up to 250g)
ReefBooster

Week 4: BioOptim (1amp treats apprx 50-100gallons)

....so on and so forth.

The ReefBooster is simply 'nutrients' and "food" for the tank. If you are noticing your corals lightening up too much try using the ReefBooster once a week, instead of once every other week. On the same note, if you have hair algae, brown corals, diatoms, etc. there is absolutely no reason for you to be using ReefBooster in the tank. Wait until the nutrient levels are low enough before using the Reef Booster.

It's important to note that you need a solid skimmer for this system to work efficiently and effectively. If you have a cheesy hang-on the back skimmer, chances are that this type of system won't work out well.

Remember, this is a long-term regimem. Don't except result in a couple weeks, it'll take a good 2-3 months before you start noticing dramatic results. Since this is a long-term regimine, it's most economical to purchase the 30 vial containers of the BioDigest, Bioptim and Reefbooster.

We've been dosing as follows:
Biodigest
7 days later Bioptim
7 days later Biodigest
7 days later Bioptim
and so on.
This schedule is used on many different systems with great results.

I have one customer that used just the Biodigest with good results.

I think there are many different ways this approach can be used with success.

I am not using this product as a miracle cure for algae just so that is clear. The only place I have any algae is in my overflow up near the lights. It's hair but as long as it's in the overflow in the back side, it doesn't bother me the least. I am looking for a product to allow more feeding's to occur and not have to see the nasty side effects of glass algae and other aggravating algae and issues that come from feeding...

Right now I only feed my fish every other day. My rock is well into two years old and unless I can break down and clean it all up, this will be my only option to getting it cleaned out bacteria and funk wise...... My SPS is completely colored and look great.

Thanks for the tips all!

Please post pictures of your tanks so that we can see the results. If you have before and after, that will be good to see.
Thanks

The only tanks that are mine that I'm using it on didn't have an problems to begin with. The others are customers tanks and while getting "after pictures" wouldn't be a problem I would have no before pictures unless they already had them.

My two tanks have plenty of before pictures so If I notice any differences down the road I'll post them. You may wonder why I'd use it if everything was OK. At first I had no intention of using it as I didn't have the problems other customers had so I thought that I wouldn't be able to really tell if it was doing anything. I have over 40 fish and feed two to three times a day so increasing my ability to add food was not an issue. The reason I started is because a friend of mine was using it and he did have some minor issues with algae. Those issues went away and his corals growth rates increased ( I take his word on that as I don't see it every day) and his coloration improved ( that I did notice.) Now don't get me wrong the improved coloration is not dramatic ( his colors were good already) but it was a noticeable and a pleasant improvement ( not the pasty pale colors I've seen with some of these bacteria based systems.) So with that in mind I figured I try it on mine and see what happens. When my friend gets back from his road trip I'll see if he'll post his before and after pictures.

Well I finally broke down and got some BioDigest the other day and droppedthe first vial in. I do not think the Seachem Stability was having as great a result as what the BioDigest will, My Nitrates have been hanging around 10ppm and I am trying to hit that ULNS stage. Using WM AA's with some other ZEO supps for my tank. As for a carbon source I am using the v.s.v mix 5-10ml dose split over a 24 hour period. Will see how it goes I am running a mesh modded ASM G2 with a Sedra 5000. Have and older ETSS coming in this week with a Mag 12 but to get it inot my tank will take some time, plumbing an already plumbe sump is a pain.

ok so i started dosing bioptim and biodigest since the 1rst of may weekly for appx 8 weeks then i would dose each one every 2 weeks alternating between the two.......i started dosing reef booster weekly but after 2nd week i noticed alot more diatoms / algea so i stopped reef booster.....corals seem to be doing ok ///i only noticed a couple of them lightned up a little. i still don't see any big improvement on diatoms/algea so i added some tuxedo urchins and they are cleaning up my rock.

if i decide to dose only biodigest ...do i dose every week or every 2 weeks?

I found this on YouTube. I am not a regular user of YouTube, but I have to admit that there is a lot of good stuff on the site.

Ah, so you open the vials and pour the contents in. That might explain a few things.:p

I stopped using Reefboost in my tank. I have algae after using the stuff.

Look at my thread concerning the urchins. They did a great job in cleaning the rocks.

My corals went pale. Afterwards, I use reefboost and the colors started coloring up.

so you think i should wait until urchins clean up all my rock and then restart using reefbooster? and what about the biodigest and bioptim.......are u still using both alternating every other week?

by the way here are a couple of tank shots before starting prodibio

I currently dose BioClean kit biweekly. I dosed the Reefboost and Red Hair Algea appeared. I don't dose Reefboost. I tried it three times since May 2008 and I don't care for the results. I seem to clean the glass more after I dose the stuff.

Dose Zeovit Spur2 and Brightwell ammeno acid weekly (very small dose until I install my new skimmer.

I am breaking in the skimmer now. I also have to make a new sump this week for the new Octopus Pro 250 Skimmer.

I will post pictures of the changes later.

How long was everyone dosing the Biodigest and carbon dose before they notice a reduction in the no3 and po4?

Or does this start to happen around the 6 week mark? Curious as to when I should notice them fall I will test twice a week to see if there is a reduction, want to be sure I start adding AA's and other supps so I can avaiond the pastel look. I only do monthly water changes and the next one is not till the first sunday in august. Trying to limil my variables.

well here are some quick picks of my tank appx 11 weeks into using prodibio .......i don't see a diff as of yet .....but nothing has gone bad either, i'll keep using prodibio and hopefully will see some improvement.

well i initially thought i would like richer colors (like on some of the

zeo tanks ) .....but i guess my colors are ok (not sure if i'll ever be

satisfied) , i also would like to have less algae on rocks and glass

(urchins and maintenance will take care of this). overall the best

feature i can say probidio has done for me is that i have'nt had to

dose mag/iodide/stronium. i have yet to see any results from the

reef booster but then again i've only dosed it a few times ( it

seems to add quite a bit of algae/detrius build up) i think once i

finish my reef booster supply , i'll try to use some zeo products.
