Prodibio

I did. I had 0 of both when I started. Salifert Nitrate Kit and Hanna Meter for PO4. I stopped GFO and still have 0 PO4.

I have read that sugar can do some strange color shifts to SPS. I have not read the same about Vodka.

Your phosphate are still staying at 0 on the Hana?

If that is the case Prodibio gets alot cheaper if I can for go the GFO.

Honestly my tank doesnt need anything, everytime I try something new I regret it. When I just stay the course the tank always does best.....

I thought I would read up on the bacteria in Bio Digest and for the most part Wikipedia came thru again. I thought I would share the links.

Nitrosomonas europea
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nitrosomonas_europea

Nitrobacter winogradskyi
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nitrobacter

Paracoccus dénitrificans
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paracoccus_denitrificans

Pseudomonas stuzerii
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pseudomonas

They claim there are more stains of bacteria in Digest but don't cought up the names. Also all the named bacteria deal with the nitrogen cycle. I was still curious what bateria they are using to reduce phosphate.

When using bacteria products like prodibio i would be careful when using GFO and i think that the bacteria will go nuts as it users the iron .
What this does is remove nutrients very quickly as the bacteria multiply very fast and you could stave your acropora which is a sign when you get the light acropora colours.

I have used prodibio for 3 years.
i only dose every two weeks which is so easy to do.

I dose every two weeks biodigest/bioptim/
reef booster dosed twice a week amd i use reef roids evry 3 days.
I also use rowaphos in a reactor.

Corals love iron so i use reef solution from eco system which has iron a minerals.

Now and then i add strontium.

How long have yiu been dosing.
Im dosing three months and my nitrates went from 25 down to 2-3 , but still have slime .
Thanks,
Frank

Sorry I missed this thread, I have been dosing now since October 2006. I had a nasty looking tank, for some reason I had dinos and a little bit of slime algae that I could not shake off, thats the reason I started with Prodibio. I really feel it worked so I continued and I now also do the recommended dosage of strontium, reefbooster and biodigest.
I feel my colors are good, and although I have had some SPS rtn in the last month or so I am going forward with Prodibio.
I found I was dosing less that half the rec. bioptim, maybe I was starving the corals of the carbon source? who knows but I also had a daily temp swing of 5-6 degrees, now have a 2 h.p. chiller so it seems steady since those 2 things have been changed.
I'll try to keep updating as to what I do and what the tanks does over the next few months.

Later today when the lights come on i will post a shot from pre-prodibio, and a shot from today

I am interested to hear more about the use of GFO with Prodibio. Recife, you said to be careful with GFO as the bacteria will go nuts over the iron, possibly multiply too fast and starve our corals. But in your next post you mentioned that you run Rowaphos in a reactor in your tank...can you please talk more about how to use GFO in reactor safely in conjunction with Prodibio?

Yes I am also very interested in this

I have gone threw most of the large threads on this products and it was stated once that all they products are individual products. I was wondering could you not just does the biodigest every two weeks to refresh the needed bacteria ? Shouldn't our system has most if not all the food needed to feed the bacteria ? Just something curious.

Just wanted to post my answer
Question to PRODIBIO:

I have a reef aquarium and I am interested in some of your products and been following threads on the aquarium boards. I was wondering could you not just does the biodigest every two weeks to refresh the needed bacteria ? Shouldn't our system has most if not all the food needed to feed the bacteria? Are these stand along products or do you have to add the bioptim.

Answer :
First of all Thank you for your interest in our product range.

Sorry for the delay in our answer but we have move the company the last week !!!

Concerning your questions and the BIODIGEST:

This product contains different kind of bacteria strains in optimal proportions.

We preconize to add Biodigest each two weeks to reequilibrate the different population of each strain. In fact the differents strains don't developped themselves at the same speed and at the same level.

With this posology you optimize the bacterial popoulation of your tank.

Don't be worried by the fact of adding BIODIGEST each two weeks, you cannot over dose your tank by this way.

In the tank, the bacteria eat the non eaten food, the fish excrements ... to transform them in biomass.

And to bost the bacteria work, we have develop a product "BIOPTIM". This product is made to enhanced the activity of the bacteria in their tank cleaning and balancing job.

You can find in attached file a leafflet describing our range and some technical informations on our products.

Feel free to contact us if you have more questions.

Best regards.
