So what is the final word on Prodibio? I am interested in trying it out for myself.

Why ?

Your tank is gorgeous. ;)

So this product seems to do wonders for coral color...How is the system working for everybody in terms of general water quality (nitrate mostly). Does it seem to fix algae problems?

Hi,
Its taken my nitrates from 25 down to 5 in three months of use.
No change in color of the corals.

Have you been dosing reefbooster too ?

I only dosed it once.
From what I read, I should start it when my nitrates are at zero.

If I were to start dosing only BioDigest instead of all the complementary stuff, would that be detrimental to my system?

I had some nasty dino's and cyano here and there. Since the prodibio no bad algae. I have added a better RO unit and incresed flow, but I will continue to use it. I dose the reefbooster (less than rec. dosage) biooptim (less than rec. dosage) and the digest (full dosage) The reason the "foods" are dosed less, is I feel any type of coral foods can be bad, I am going slow with the prodibio to be on the safe side.
Honestly everybody that saw my tank a few months ago before the prodibio is very impressed and always asking what i did different. And the stuff is cheap! a lot cheaper than Zeovit anyway I know it does different things, but I am going to stick with it for atleast a year to decide.

You can dose the bacs (Digest) but your tank may not have enough carbon source (Bioptim). You could try Vodka as the carbon source but that is more risky.

I dunno about this stuff, although I've seen n03 drop I get weird brown algae the next day after I dose. No real improvement on the corals either........

I've decided to give Prodibio a shot.

System details:
180G total water volume
150G AGA RR BB
monster skimmer(well moded large Octo)
3x400W MH 20k XMs
good flow from a mix of prop pumps
Carbon and GFO 24/7
Calcium Reactor running A.R.M.
Running on Seachem Reef Salt

Coral:
30 mostily small acro frags or mini colonies and couple LPS and softies

Fish:
1 Moorish Idol
1 Yellow Tang
1 sm. Palette Tang
1 Lawnmower Blennie
6 Gr. Chromis

Goals for Prodbio in my tank are to crash my Calerpia. Being BB and heavy skimmed I was already pretty happy with my SPS color and growth but if it gets better great.

I had hitchicker calerpia from back when I ran a fuge(don't any more). As is in the system it grows farely slowly but if I slack off on maintance it can come roaring back and over run my mostily still rather small frags. Having a back up way of nutrient removal might sound decent but the Calerpia seems to seriousily stress the coral if it tries to over take it so I want it out. If I can replace the calerpia function with the Prodbio it will be a keeper.

I haven't had ANYTHING at all RTN since about the second week the tank was setup 9 months ago and nothing esle will change in my test phase. So baring stressor I can clearly not tie to Prodbio I will take RTN issues as being Prodbio related.

In starting slow I decided to dose
1 Digest and 1 Optim the first two weeks(starting today)
1 Digest and 2 Optim 2nd two week period
1 digest and 3 Optim (recomended dose) there after

At that point I am going to run it for a month or two to see what I think.

Any thoughts or comments?

I think you will need to run it for atleast 3 months. Your dosing seems to be inline....Not to turn you away but it seems like your problem could be solved with just introducing a carbon source such as Sugar or vodka.

Scott

I tried sugar for a while but got some weird color shifting in some of the acros so I thought I would go with a little more developed method.

Same with me. Some brightened while others lost there highlights. But to some extent so has Prodibio. I can't pin that on Prodibio though. There are way too many variables to say what it is for sure.

Did anyone with low range test equipment actually track the nitrate and phosphate levels when starting Prodibio?

I was wonder if its use thas decreased anyones use of GFO.

I did. I had 0 of both when I started. Salifert Nitrate Kit and Hanna Meter for PO4. I stopped GFO and still have 0 PO4.

I have read that sugar can do some strange color shifts to SPS. I have not read the same about Vodka.

I've always used GFO my po4 stayed around .03. No3 fell from 7ppm to 2 ppm. I've discountinued use however, I get killed with algae the next day folowing a dose.

Were you talking about Digest and Bioptim or Reefbooster?
