ProfiLux 3 upgrade fitting instructions

Please find below detailed instructions on how to fit the kit

1. Remove the top cover of your ProfiLux

2. Unplug the ribbon cable from the front screen and remove both fron panel and PCB assy.

3. Unscrew and remove the rear board taking note that one screw is hidden under the ribbon cable. Once removed then remove the two screws either side of the RS232 connection and detach the rear plate from the main board

Re assembly

1. Fit Ethernet board to slot zero of the rear PCB

2. Attach new rear plate and refit the RS232 screws. Make sure when fitting the rear plate that the USB port is "carefully nursed through the hole until flush so there is no bend in the rear panel

3. Screw the rear board back in place and fit the two supplied pillars instead of the two PCB screws as shown here

4. Fit the small supplied ribbon cable to the PAB PCB and align with the rear panel and two pillars and screw down. Note - do not over tighten or miss thread the screws.

5. Fit the new front panel and screen as a pair, making sure the push switch pillars all align with the soft keys.

Fit the pair into the case into the sceond notches in as seen here

6. Fit the ribbon cables to the front PCB

7. Fit PAB cable as shown

8. HIGHLY important!! Remove central lug from case inside top frame

9. Refit top lid making sure the lid is now fitted the correct way round (removed lug at the front)

You now have a P3! Firmware update instructions will follow

I assume that with the eX that we do not have to remove the rear board?

Yes you do as the new lan and USB card is on the main back plate

Yes you do as there is a new rear plate for this also otherwise you would not be able to fit the ethernet card or PAB board.

The proceedure is the same for both, except in the EX you also have to remove the EX kit, but that is self explanatory diss-assemble and re-assemble

Does the Profilux 3 upgrade board come with USB & Lan on it?

It comes with USB and advanced Lan that has massive onboard web server capabilities.

So if I was to purchase a Profilux II now, I wouldn't need one with LAN correct since the Profilux 3 upgrade has LAN on it?

If you are going to upgrade now to the P3 then you dont need the seperate lan card also.

can you still use the Wlan card from the Profilux II ? I'm guessing it would just plug into the board like it does now.

Also do you have a different back panel for the EX module? If so do I have to specify when I order if I have an EX module?

Hi yes you can, there is also talk of opening its functions for other uses, but that will come in time.

The kit comes with two panels one for standard and one for EX you fit the one that suits your model type.

When I upgraded my P2+ to a P2+ex I lost all my decriptions. For example, on the screen showing all the sockets, the column where you add a description. Another example, on the dosing pump screen, the descriptions there were lost also.
Will this happen again? Will any information be lost? Illumination channels, dosing info, programmable logic?

Is it safe to assume that ALL probes that can be calibrated should be re-calibrated after the upgrade to version 3?

P3 calibration

I just completed a P3 upgrade. All your data will be lost, period.
Your illuminations, timers, pumps, dosing, sockets, descriptions, programmable logic and all calibrations. Basically everything. The only thing I did not have to do was reprogram the powerbars and dosing pumps.
Be prepared to start all over from scratch. I wrote everything down so I spent minimul time re entering stuff. If you are dosing, the P3 has it located under the timers now. It took me awhile to find that.
