ProfiLux 3 upgrade fitting instructions

No I never did. To be honest I was not aware the possibility existed.
Once the P3 was running I saw that utlity. I not sure if the P2 had it or not.
Does it MSHUR?

You cant back up and restore the backup the config when going from a PII to a P3 there have been to many internal changes...

Just do a screen capture of eac section and paste it in word for futur referance.

P2 have options "save settings" under communication tab . Every time i did upgrade i use saved all data and restore it back. But, to be honest i am not sure if this option available with this massive upgrade

Just do a print screen which places the page on your clipboard and then you can past it into word, etc. Do this for every page.

look on your keyboard there should be a key called prnt scrn (print screen)... press is once and go to word and do CTRL+V (repeat for each page)

Love the pictures Micheal! They are worth far more than a 1,000 words each! For those of us which ae imagination challenged - "big pictures, few words" work best!
Thanks for taking the time to do this.

"re-programing was a pain"...kinda like getting a brand new controller?:lolspin:

Because - that is what you have now! Did you not save any of your previuos programming?

Guys this is important

My instructions were superceded by GHL's due to the requirement to remove bits of plastic from the base and top of the controller frame.

Please please make sure you follow these important notes otherwise you will damage your front LCD PCB.

The important part not mentioned on my instructions (but it is in GHL;s) is to remove the third bottom plastic tooth from the front middle part of the lower frame, I personaly advise removing it completely. This stops the tooth cracking a small component. Make sure you also follow my advise to remove the upper front top middle nub. You will know if you have not done this becuase as soon as you turn the unit on you will have no screen and a bill for $90 to replace the front LCD screen. This is one error we all encountered on beta testing, but you are all aware of the importance to modify the frame - right ?? ;)

Many thanks for the appreciation in my photographic work ;) But also please make sure you also do the parts listed by GHL. I could not update my fitting instructions due to having NO moderation rights here :(

See you all again after Christmas just wanted to chime in on this to cover all debangles ;)

teesquare-my understanding was that programming was not transferrrable from a II to a 3. Regardless, she's up and going now!

I saw the second set of instructions and followed them carefully. Needless to say I did not want to pich that transistor.

Can a serial connection to a PC and a Profilux View II both be run from the one serial port?

The data can not be transferred, as said above, you have a new controller now and only for $200 :) wahoo ;)

The official instructions have been linked here long before the upgrades were shipped, they also have thier on thread here, they are on my web site and also on the GHL download section. Covered all angles against not following them?? ;)

One serial device per RS232 unless you have the SMS module.

PLM-RS232 expansion available for further serial devices but now you have native USB and LAN there should be little requirement for RS232 other than for known devises.

Wife kicking me in the shins for being online so I am outta here !

Dalmerjd-
Sorry - I mis-spoke...I was under the impression that you could transfer data...Apparently I was confused on that, -I saw an earlier post in this forum about taking screenshots and saving/printing them, so you could set up the new controller a bit faster, with the same seetings you had been using on the older controller.

Dalmerjd, You will have to try running the LAN cable there as you wont get the same signal degredation that you were experiencing with the USB cable.

Then your rs232 will be free for the view II.
