2x6 on the end will handle that weight easily, without even needing a verticle support..

so you think the 2x6 on end would be enough to handle the tanks weight over a 48" span without it sagging?

I had a 110 in a similar configuration with no noticeable sag for over a year.. it was 44", I think.. I had an engineer I know run calcs and he said it was more than enough..

alright....ive been pounding my brain for a couple of days thinking of how to plumb this tank up.i have 2 darts to run so one will be used for the return pump and the other a closed loop.here is what im thinking.
red=returns from sump
blue=closed loop
yellow=lockline returns
im not sure what to do with ports 5 and 6 yet but ill think of something.let me know what you think.

Chris. run the 2 center ports down into the reef pointing out from the rocks and have the 4 others pointing back towards the reef.

When are we going to start working on the stand?

i need to get the wood.i might get over to lowes today to grab it all.i already have my stand plans set,so im good there.

Chirs,

Congratulations on your new tank, it is looking awesome. I know your were excited about getting a bigger tank but why so soon, you just put up the 90 which was nowhere close of being filled to its capacity and what are you going to do with the clam tank.

Ok, what do you have instore for us...something really big hope :D

paul i just wasnt happy with the 90 gallon.i know its just setup but i dont mind starting over.i am making plans to house my corals and fish so i can cook off all my liverock.i dont think the 90 will be a clam tank.i have to sell it along with some other stuff just to get this new tank running.i am going to keep my clam cube and will link it to the new tank down the road.i got all the lumber for the stand and cut it to size.now all i have to do it glue it and screw it.anyone want to help assemble my stand.....cough cough Greg.

I GOT WOOD........literally :)
all cut and ready to assemble.the top of the frame will be 2x6's the rest will be 2x4's

its the exact same as the top post connection.imagine the way the top of the post looks but instead it has only 3 1/2" of wood sticking up past the double beam.
