Purchasing fish online?¿

I assume "purchasing"?. I purchase all fish online (Drs. Foster and Smith) and have for many years.

Yup, generally prices are very reasonable (even with shipping), and the 14 day guarantees are awesome. I do most of my fish purchases online.

I agree. And importantly, online will provide a better selection of possibilities that an LFS can not afford to provide "on spec"

+1

All of my fish have come from LiveAquaria.com/Diver's Den. Not only are the fish some of the healthiest available, they offer a "no questions asked" 14-day guarantee. Highly recommended.

Forgot to mention - LA is very clear about what regions their fish are collected from, most LFS (at least in my neck of the woods) are not. It is easy to avoid Indo if that is your inclination. So, you even get a selection within a species.

Liveaquaria is the way to go. Ordered hooded wrasses last week while on sale and they could not have been healthier

Yep I would recommend drs foster and smith I've ordered from them loads and have had no Doas and you still get a 14 day guarantee also online places tend to be slightly cheaper than your local lfs however this is because there are shipping charges but they tend to be quite cheap

I go one further and recommend Diver's Den, which, altho owned by DFS, is a different facility. That way, you can actually see the exact specimen you're buying. Either way you go, their customer service is second to none.

I agree that live aquaria is the best place to order from online. They take great care in packaging the fish to ensure healthy transport. I'm also lucky to have two really good LFS nearby, so I don't hesitate purchasing from them either.

I've purchased just one fish online so far, a Bellus Angel from the Diver's Den on Live Aquaria. It lasted 2 days and went belly-up. Yes they refunded the purchase price which was cool. Not sure if and when I'll try again.

I have purchased online from Divers Den, Blue Zoo Aquatics, That Pet Place (excellent customer service!), NYAquatics, and NiceWrasse. Almost all good experiences. A good "alive guarantee" is a must IMO. I have had 2 DOA's out of 12 total fish, so overall pretty good experiences. From my purchases, I have been most happy with Diver's Den and That Pet Place, though I wouldn't hesitate to order from any of the others mentioned if they had something I couldn't find elsewhere :)

I've ordered from LA DD NYA PIA and nicewrasse all arrived alive healthy and still have all but one lavender tang that got attacked by a eunice worm.

I purchase about all of my fish online as well. I like the selection and the guarantee that you get with purchasing online. If you purchase several fish together and QT them, the shipping will be offset.

+1 to LA, I have also purchased from Saltwaterfish.com and they have good pricing and the same guarantee but lack the on hand livestock that LA usually has

saltwaterfish.com has been great for me, no DOA and always packaged very well. Very healthy fish and they guarantee for 2 weeks. Their frags are ok, generally exactly what they say in terms of polyps but I've had better luck with other places sending frags much larger than stated in the listing. I won't mention their name as it would probably turn into a flame fest in here because they've had a lot of problems lately from what I've seen. However, my experience has not been the complaints that I've seen, it's been the exact opposite, so I read those complaints with a grain of salt. :)

Oh I almost forgot, I got my Quoyi parrotfish from Reefanimals.com and couldn't of been happier. It was by far the best fish packing/packaging I have ever received from any online source and the fish are QTed, treated , and eating before they are shipped out

Wow! I am so glad I found this thread. I'm getting ready to add my first fish on April 3rd and I am defiantly getting it from Divers Den. That place is incredible. The WUSIWUG photos are awesome. Thank you for the tip!
