I have the most amazing Purple Carpet Anemone. I was wondering if you know the type of Anemone and more important what clown fish will host it. Any crabs (Porcelain) will host it?

beautiful purple haddoni carpet theroon. you have a wide selection of clownfish to choose from, as all should be inclined to use it. some species will recognize it easier, like a. polymnus, but all should eventually find it. and yes, your porcelain crab should be fine in it.

keep in mind, your haddonis are notorious fish eaters...keep this in mind if some fish start to go missing.

nice find!

I agree on the ID (S. haddoni) and just wanted to say "HOLEY WOW NICE ANEMONE."

If I could find a purple carpet like that I'd practically give away my other tanks and anemones to offer up in trade. :D Well almost anyhow.

Best of luck with it.

As mentioned, there is some risk of fish-eating with this species. Also be wary that in time they will grow to be large anemones. I had to give up my gorgeously green haddoni (I've not seen many greens that could compare to it) after about 3 years simply because it was outgrowing any tank I could keep at around 24" diameter. I see in your sig that you have a 180g so if the carpet is in there you should be set but you may find you need to rearrange things a bit as you go along. The nice thing is that although they grow large, they don't grow as fast as some other species might, so you can just adjust as you go.

Anyhow nice anemone. I'm jealous.

I tried tank-raised clowns for my haddoni and he ate them all. I then found a pair of wild saddle back clowns(a polymnus). After like 10 minutes of being in the tank they went right in. I guess the carpet was too sticky for the tank-raised clowns. Any way nice haddoni. Dont be angry when you lose a fish, because its going to happen. I dont even have time to list everything mine has claimed for a meal.

As far as clowns go, anything from the clarki complex of clowns will likely jump right in. A. polymnus and A. sebae are almost exclusive to this anemone in nature so they are always a good choice, but not always available.
IME, ocellaris and percula clowns are kind of hit and miss with this type of anemone.

Yeah the tank-raised clowns I tried were Ocellaris and Percula. It look them a while to even pay it any interest. Only to become food once they did.

Does anyone have clowns got eaten by Haddoni after they live in/with the anemone for at least two weeks?
I got my 5 baby Onyx Percula with my green Haddoni. They are doing well right now but I don't know if I should remove them.

I don't know how the anemone would be able to sting them once the clowns are acclimated to it. I think they will be fine.

Thanks. They seem to be happy with the Haddoni. I am separating them in the near future. Will see if I can get some other blood line to mix with these clowns.

i had a haddoni anemone with two ORA clarkiis in it for several months. when i moved the anemone to give to a friend, one clown went into the anemones mouth to hide (it did this occasionally when spooked, or at night) and yet...never returned.
