Purple gig

So here is my outdoor gig waiting for me at the store till the morning when I can pick it up. I'm buying it with store credit:) lol. It's like stealing! It's the size of my other two gigs. Good color just a lil bleaching near the mouth. It looks good for a newly shipped gig. The tents are vibrating. I didn't get a pic of the mouth cuz it shifted position before I could. It's open but not gaping at all:)

I'm definitely going to qt it a week or two if I can in a 10 gallon with some live rock and a 150w mh with lots of flow. I have cipro on hand to treat and I won't be shy about starting treatment if it deflates with the lights on or starts to look bad. I'm fresh off losing that green gig and now know what that's like. I don't want that to happen to my other two gigs or my lavender haddoni. I'm only a couple months out from getting the 4x4 cube started which is where these will end up along with the green haddoni that I got for free (it's made a complete recovery in another tank of mine) since it's only sticlodacyl nems in the tank aside from a couple pesky corals. I anticipate everyone getting along.

Ok it's home! I literally was scrounging for change to pay the difference after store credit. It looks to be in great shape and healthy as I see it. So I put it in the DT with the other two.... Naw you know I wouldn't do that:blown: it's in the QT tank chillin with some live rock. It looks pretty sweet for a just delivered gig. The mouth is closed tight and the shape looks good. Sticky and sat down quickly and folded up nice and tight. It is a lil bleached around the
mouth but there is zero balding visible right now. Here are some pics

When I left for work this evening the mouth was tightly closed and flat. As opposed to the nipple look. It came from a local tank so I'm excited but still cautious. It certainly appears as healthy as my green did when I first got it and nearly as big:) just not quite as shaggy.

Have you noticed any difference with the flat mouth vs nipple mouth look? My green has a more flat mouth the majority of the time while the big purple has a nipple'd mouth a lot... curious to see if anyone knows what that might mean.

Otherwise, nice score!

Came home from work to it looking like this:) I couldn't see the mouth but the posture looks good. I'm starting to be more hopeful that it's going to do well.

looks awesome so far. as far as the mouth posture, mine alternates between flat and puckered - probably about 50/50. not sure what that means, if anything.

I agree, looks good so far.. Bad signs are pancake looking gigs, and yours certainly does NOT have that posture.

Lol I don't know if I call it at will. I've had to put the word out. The three healthy ones I've bought were ones that were brought into stores by hobbyists and the lfs's contacted me. And the last green one was a petco gig. I have scoured the Seattle area for a year asking and turning over stones and have only seen six total two others were shipped in and looked typical of newly shipped and stressed gigs. And I didn't get them due to being broke. I really would not have been able to get this if I didn't have TONS of store credit.being on the west coast helps for sure though. I live 15 minutes from the saltwater.

I'm a little jealous. My LFS wants an arm and a leg just for them to order one. I guess my best bet would be to ship one and have Cipro ready.

Mine were not cheap at all. But I feel I got what I paid for. The gig that died I bought for less then $10. I bet I could have saved that one if I had cipro from day one. So having it on hand is the way to go. Because shipping isnt fast enough with a sick gig. This is day 3 with this one and all looks well so far. I have the next three days off to monitor and get an even better feel for it's health. Expect more pics I'm afraid lol.

I turned on the lights today before leaving for some errands. And I noticed the tents are noticeably colored in. The tents around the mouth and oral disk were brown and lacking color but they are definitely colored up more. It's progress and the tents are lengthening a lil bit. All of these seem to be good signs that it's not dealing with an infection right? I'm just guessing. Its a nice purple that my iphone has a hard time rendering. But I will try tonight when I get home:)
