Purple tang not eating.

I got a purple tang from LA.com. It was delivered on 11/14. He's been in the tank since then. He has not eaten. He has some Ich spots but I'm treating the whole tank with Dr Gs food and I have a UV sterilizer running 24/7 at 120gph.

I have tried many different foods and combos. I have offered nori on a clip and put it on two different sides . He's not interested, food even blown in his face. I also added garlic and nothing.

I do have 2 other tangs in the tank, they were attacking him for a few days but that has died down 95%. The yellow tang was not nice but has no interest in him.

The purple tang swims around slow and likes to stay behind the rocks from time to time.

Any advice or will this just take time?

Might try putting the nori on a rock. I have had fish that wouldn't eat it from the clip at first but would from the rock. More of a natural way of eating I guess. Might try a divider if it acts like its scared .

Tang that hasn’t eaten in two weeks plus is not good. That medicated food is useless in my experience (as isngarlic); none of my fish would ever eat it. I’d remove it to a QT tank where at least it won’t be harassed.

+1 I would also call Liveaquaria and let them know what is going on with the fish not eating (I know you're 1 day outside of the guarantee but its worth a shot) I have done this in the past with fish that haven't eaten and they extend the warranty for another week. I assume there are other fish and inverts in your DT thats why you were trying the medicated food? Medicated food never works for ich.

I agree. Call L.A. That fish is not going to make it. Zebra tangs are pigs, real easy to get eating. Something is wrong with the fish.

Yeah its pretty obvious what is wrong with the fish. It wasnt quarantined and has ich as a result of this, on top of that it is being harassed by two other tangs. I pretty sure there wasn't something wrong with the fish before OP got it since the fish wouldn't live for 2 weeks without food if it was unhealthy from the start.

I think asking for a refund from LA on thing like this would be little less than scamming them.

As soon as you say the word Ick, they all have to come out to a Hospital Tank, treated in one of the three only ways, hypo, cupramine, TTM and the DT must go fishless for 72 days.
If he doesn't eat Ick could be suspect, you don't always see it early but many times the gills are affected firstly before the body....keep in mind, the better the diagnosis, the easier the fix.
Stuff for the DT to treat fish diease DO NOT WORK or at least for the Ick parasite.

While the UV might kill the free floaters, it does not clear the fish...
