Purple tilefish (goby) help

So a friend had to take his tank down immediately and had a large purple tilefish he needed to get rid of asap so I took it. Have it in QT now but in my DT I have a BB tank. I know these fish like to burrow. Will he be able to survive or am I condemning an innocent?????

I have one and have never seen it burrow. I also had it in bare bottom QT for over a month without issues. It does like hiding places.

Big time jumpers!!!!! Tank must be covered if you have any hope of keeping it long term.

My DT is fully covered with a canopy. Open back is covered by a plastic mesh. Still going to have to be careful during feedings but starting to really like this fish and it's eating really well in the QT.

Wouldn't hurt to throw a sand filled bowl in the tank.
