Pylons Tank!

Your frogspawn looks to be a little close to your montipora. It could sting it. You might want to seperate them a bit.

well.. My anemone just took the big freshwater slide to the sky.

:( I hope to order his replacement next week, however I may wait a while.

I'm sorry about your nem. I was hoping he would make it. Hopefully it will go better with your next one.

that picture is deceiving, there about a good half ince to an ince between them.. I was worried about that too.. I still might move it because it's been growing pretty quickly :)

Yeah, a half inch is not enough. The frogspawn can extend its tentacles that far. I would suggest atleast 2-3 inches of space in between them. In my experience, LPS and softies always win the war against SPS corals.

Just more pictures

Yeah refracto is where its at.. for a coule weeks my salinity was like 1.29 or higher cause of my deep six. Or cause of my assumptions that it was moreso on. Just marked the difference on deep six to make accurate with refracto till i get one. Also your picks are totally worthy... good luck, reef it up. :reading:

It was suggested to me from the start, but I was being cheap and putting alot of stock in the hyrdometer..
I got mine from marinedpot for 40 bucks after spending 28 dollars on Hydrometers..
should of just started right

So, my Yellow watchman Goby is starting to turn a greenish color.. I have a white patch on my Monti..
Other then that everything seems to be going well!
Oh any my fireshrimp molted again!

I wish things would hurry up and grow :P

Hey Pylon, Just checking in to see how your tank is coming along? Hope it's doing well. :)

It's been a busy month here with finals and family!

Everything is doing great!
I'll admit that I did neglect it the couple of weeks during finals but now that everything is done I spent some time over the last few days cleaning and doing a water change.. I don't have any pictures of "post cleaning" but here are some from the last couple weeks.

My purple Mushroom is getting absolutely huge! I he's a little bigger then a tea saucer. When I first got him he was about the size of a half dollar.
The Clowns and the Goby have been doign well.. I'm sure the Clowns are a mated pair now. My Ricordias (sp) are getting big too!

I think I'm getting some growth out of the other corals.. A guy at my LFS suggested Liquid Reef, so I might give that a try.

I've been feeding my Randal "Candy" Shrimp often, from the little bit I see of him he looks like he is getting bigger! Hopefully with regular feeding he'll get big enough to come out of his little hole and not be fish food!

My Fire/Blood Shrimp is still absolutely beautiful, and he has molted a few times already.

I just now finished cleaning the tank and I'll wait until everybody is done being upset with me before I take some more pictures.

Hi Pylon. I just read through your whole thread. A great read - fun and very informative. You take great pictures of your tank and you have a great looking tank. It was sad to read about your problems with the anemone. I do hope your next try with an anemone works out better.

Man, I love those pastel blue mushrooms.

DJ

Yeah DJ it rocks, it's getting so big that it's hogging all the light from the ones under it!

Female Clown

This is the female Clown, behind her is a purple mushroom that when I got it was the size of a small bead and it fell into the rocks in which I could not reach.
Now it's a little bigger then a half dollar.

YWG.. I think he's turning a little green.. I'm changing up the died some.. hopefully that'll bring his color back.

Dude, the white tips are tissue recession - not good. You need to check your calcium and alk, phosphate and nitrate ASAP. Something isn't right.

Rule of thumb -
Calcium - should fall between 400-450
Alk (carbonate hardness) - should fall btw 8-12dKH
Phosphate/Nitrate - should be as close to 0 as possible.

If you don't have test kits, or meters to check these parameters then you need to get, and become proficient at using them. When you step up to SPS, you're playing with the big boys - you need big boy tools now.
