I think way back in this thread I noted that one of my four pyramids had had a worse mouth infection than the other three (though they all had it to some degree) to the point that part of the lower jaw actually fell off. The fish survived, and all four went into my display 9 months ago. However, I have been noticing that of the four, the one with the jaw deformity was not growing and was thinner that it's brethren, though not emaciated. Just this week I see only three of the four; the smaller one presumably has died and become CUC food. I feed this tank a lot, and hard to really manage even higher food input, but I think with the mouth deformity, this fish was not able to fully compete and ultimately died as a result. Lesson is that while mouth problems can be initially cured, the fish may still not survive long-term and underscores the importance (particularly with these fish) of getting good specimens.
