Quality of fish from regular selection

Hello,

I have been looking at possibly purchasing several clownfish species through your site but have reservation since they aren't on your Diver's Den.

As you know some species of clownfish are very sensitive and need special handling, I you do with your diver's den fish. What type of acclimation and QT do they "regular" items go through?

Is it possible to order some and have them go through your Rhinelander facility and get the "special treatment"? I would understand a different price for fish that would go through this.

Just wanted to know to help me decide.

Thank you in advance.

Dave

Dave, I have many orders both through Divers Den and the normal, regular channels. In almost every case, the quality has been what I hoped for. The only anomalies have to do with sizing. Occasionally, they get upsized. If one orders a small, it may be a medium; or a medium may be a large. In most instances that is not an issue. But, for example, if one were trying to replicate a harem of C. multicolor, getting large ones might not be so good. In the case of clownfish (technically, anemone fish), there may be similar issues.

That being said, I too would be interested in the possibility of having regular channel fish pass through divers den.

Rare Angels,

Thank you for taking the time to enquire about the quarantine methods for our non-Divers’ Den Clownfish. Special observation is taken with all clownfish as they are susceptible to Clownfish Disease (Brooklynella). Quarantine times vary, but rest assured we have qualified personnel who are able to observe these fish to ensure our Clownfish are at their optimal health. Our highly trained personnel are able to closely observe fish behavior and monitor all of the Clownfish for any signs of illness. The clownfish are medicated on an as-needed basis only.

As quarantine times vary for all fish, we highly recommend utilizing a quarantine tank so that you may further observe the health of your fish before adding these to your main display tank. A quariantine tank will give you additional time to monitor any new arrival for signs of illness. We would encourage all of our customers to review how to properly set up and maintain a quarantine tank at the link below.

Hello!

At this time our Aquaculture Coral and Marine Life facility is not set up to have items pass through from our California facility. When we receive fish from other facilities our quarantine procedures are so extensive that sometimes the specimen is not available for a couple of months. We strive to offer the most desirable specimens from our Rhinelander facility and encourage you to check this site regularly as common species are offered on a regular basis. The strict quarantine procedures we maintain in our Aquaculture Coral and Marine Life facility can be performed in your home hospital tank. We have posted our exact procedures on a prior post. Joyce,

I do appreciate the fact that you make your QT procedure available but lots of time its to time consuming. I am willing to purchase fish from vendors that do a thorough QT and pay the extra money. This saves me some time on my end, even though I still QT all new fish, and makes the likelyhood that the fish will live a long healthy life in my tank9s0.

I simply asked the question to see if it was a possiblity, especially with anemonefish since some of them require alot of attention at first.

Thank you for your thorough answers and time.

Dave

Rare Angels,

Thank you for you inquiry. I apologize for the misunderstanding. All of the fish sold through LiveAquaria and Diver’s Den go through a quarantine period. Our livestock is of the highest quality and all facilities have strict quarantine procedures and monitoring. Our Aquacultured Coral and Marine Life facility offers a more extensive quarantine program that goes above and beyond any other facility in the industry. If you would like anemone fish through this facility we often offer them through Diver’s Den. Generally we do not have Dascyllus available through Diver’s Den, however, we offer different varieties of clownfish on a regular basis. This week we will be listing a clownfish pair with three more pairs to follow. If you would like to check on the availability of a particular species through Diver’s Den please PM me and I can certainly check on that for you.
