adding first invert to tank... wondering if I should be QT a peppermint shrimp like I would a fish?

what do you guy's normally do? will peppermint shrimp carry parasites , ich etc?

There's two opinions: some qt absolutely everything including water weed. Others just rinse inverts off in tank discard water (to be sure no store water gets through) and put them on in. Judge your level of risk and how much risk you're willing to run. Personally, I'm of the rinse them off school, but as I said, there are two opinions.

What do you mean by rinse them off? With tank water?

you could rinse them with RO water. Inverts will tolerate a freshwater bath. A quick rinse won't hurt anything

I usually put inverts in QT for 72 days, especially if I purchased them while they were in the tank with fish. If they were in with other inverts, I just rinse them off and put straight into DT.

Anything wet get's Qt'd by me. Why take the chance? I introduced ich to my DT from not quarantining inverts. Had to go fallow and do TTM. Inverts are not worth the risk.

I thought ich was only transferred by fish. I float inverts for temp and drop them in. never had a problem.

Extra work to prevent an issue seems like a waist of time now. But if you do run into a problem then you will be doing much more work trying to keep your pets alive.

What people are afraid of is encysted ich clinging to a shell. Not so readily as sand. Shrimp are nervous creatures, always on the move. I'm skeptical that ich would succeed in hanging on, but I can be convinced otherwise. I just say---take ONLY the chances you think wise, but don't expect to be exempt from Murphy's Law.
