the main reason to takeit out of the jar is so it can move around to find where it wants to be. in my experience, everytime i have added a bubble to my tank, the go behind my rockwork for a day or two. they then come out and settle. try and keep a eye on it in case it starts to look bad. when i started this hobby i lost one in the back of my tank and didnt find it for a week. did a number on my system. but it recovered.
but you need, and i stress NEED to cover the inlet on your power heads. my bubbles only moved at night, and i had one float off in the current to find a new spot. well the spot he found was the inlet to my powerhead. i woke up to a cloudy tank with pink crap floating everywhere, and a half chewed nem in my powerhead. i could have cried. when i got him he was doing terrible at the lfs. i got him to try and help, and i got him to great health. his mouth closed up and he ate great. to one day just die. it was terrible. i now have 1in of foam all the way around the intake of my powerheads. it was a stupid mistake on my part.
so justlet him out. cover the powerheads, and watch him. the will move in to all kinds of shapes when they move around. just my two cents here. i know the stress these nems can give you, trust me. if your water and light are good, he will settle just fine.
ps sorry for spelling and no caps. i typed this ob my pda.
