Questions about Carpets...

I would love to get an anemone for my tank. My tank will eventually be mostly SPS/LPS.

Here are my wants:

I will have 2 clowns in my tank and I want an anemone that will host the clowns.

I would much prefer a carpet, I believe they're prettier, plus safer with corals cause I hear they're more likely to stay put.

I only have a 75 Gallon, so I don't want an anemone that will overtake my tank.

A brightly colored anemone is least important but also desired.

Any suggestions? Do any anemones exist that would fulfill my wants? Basically if there is a colorful carpet that doesn't get very big and hosts clowns, I'd be in heaven... can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks.

I've heard this "don't get a carpet, your tank is too small" plenty of times. I also know if a person does enough research, usually he can either find a way around the problem, or at least gain some useful knowlage to store away for later on.

Telling me "dont get a carpet" neither shares knowlage of the creature in question, nor does it help find a solution to what I would like for my tank.

People out there who have had plenty of experience with carpets and would like to share information with me to either help me find what I'm looking for, or to help me to understand I'm on the wrong path would be greatly appreciated, but statements with no backbone do me no good.

Thanks again in advance for all those looking to help.

unfortunately there are no host carpet species that stay small. You can keep a haddoni healthy in a 75, especially if you have a good sized sump for added water volume. It will take up a great deal of real estate though, and you will need to keep a close eye on water quality. Even if you find a small carpet, it will not stay that way for long.

This is my carpet in a 55. Clearly the tank is to small for an anemone this size. You have a few more inches in a 75, but this should give you some idea of how much room these things take up.

Thanks elegance, it's too bad, that green carpet you have there is exactly what I was picturing for my tank, it's beautiful, but I don't want to have to move it once it gets too big.

Don't BTA's eventually get really big too though? Or do they grow based on the size of the tank?

I have had a Haddoni in my 75 for 9+ years now, it hasn't out grown it, and I doubt it will. I don't feed it all that often, maybe once every 3 weeks, and it is still as healthy as always.

I also have 2 in my 58, a blue one, and a green one. The blue one is about 2-3 years old and the green one is just under a year. They get fed on the same schedule as the tan one in my 75.

Thanks a lot. I had gotten that one from the Diver''s Den section of Live Aquaria. It really got darker blue after being in my tank for a couple of months.
