Questions on Panther Grouper

I purchased a very small panther grouper the other day, 1 1/2" long..
I have been stopping by the LFS every other morning and getting him some feeder guppies for his food (gut loading them and dropping them in)..
He eats around 15 of them in a 24hr period, very aggressive when the fresh ones get dropped in..
How big do I need to let him get before trying to feed "dead" food..
Anyone have a idea on the growth rate, all I can find is "They grow fast"..
Would it be close to my oscars (around 1" a month depending on feeding)..

You can feed dead now if he will take it. 15 in 24 hrs is a lot as well. Growth rate kinda all depends on his nutrition, anywhere from .5 inches to about 2 inches per month I'd say is average. Great personality for a fish.

The feeders are only like 1/4-3/8 long..
I will work on the feeding as soon as he gets over the new tank shyness..
I have heard they are about like an oscar as far as personality, love watching him swim around (well until he sees me)..

Not sure on tankmates yet, maybe a marine betta,,he will wind up in a 180g for now.
Wanting to build a "pond" in my outbuilding and move everything out there. Thats where he will wind up at.. Wife dont care as long as the pond isnt in the house..

He is one ugly adult grouper
Not BS at all. They are beautiful as a baby, white and black spot. As they get older the white become dark and the black become light. I saw one someone brought to the fish store at 1 foot he is dapped gray. no clear spots. That huge hump back too. Not an attractive fish at all.
I see if I can come up with a picture

I did more search and read more about this fish. The color I saw was stressed color, ugly with not spots. My mistake about ugly adult. Just it get too big for any tank that I can afford.

The comment I made about calling BS was made in jest,, if you took it as me being serious I apologize, that was not my intent...

He will be in a 180 till he gets over a foot, I should have my "pond" built in my out building by then...
I actually have to build two, she wants one for some koi...
Gonna be a busy fall\winter

No problem. I just saw one ugly fish, know that it will get big so I was never interested in getting one so I did not look into this any further. Because of this thread, I did some search and learned something.
A salt water pool in NC is not easy. Keep the rain from getting into it. Keep it heat in the winter and cool in the summer. Too much for me.

Pool will be inside,, been planning it for a while...

Don't forget about humidity. My 320 gal tank with sump and frag tank total of about 500 gal evaporate 4 gal per day. You will be in trouble if you don't account for this.

I will definitely have to run a dehumidifier, and seal the walls.. Probably use that plastic paneling like in commercial bathrooms..
