Quick Bulkhead ?

Does the rubber seal/glass need to be dry for them to seal well or does it matter? I am having a hard time getting the 1.5" ones in the overflow to seal good but they are in a very tight hard to reach spot. I am thinking one of those oil filter remover band wrench things may give me some leverage for tightening. Any input for a better idea? I just can't get my hand around the tightening ring fully because the hole in the plywood is a dab off center. So Me or Cory can't tighten it down good. Thanks!

Not really room The hole didn't line up right on just 1 and it barley fit anyways. The lug nut is also huge for the 1.5" bulkhead. What about the wet thing? Should it be dry or is wet OK as long as its tight? I will have to drain the overflow and towel dry it if so...

I just got back from autozone and got a rubber univeral oil filter wrench. Looks like it may do the trick and be great for stubborn pickle jar lids in the kitchen  Lets hope it works, nothing more frustrating than a leak. I was thinking I read somewhere the seal was suppose to be dry for some reason though is why I asked. ThaNKS FOR THE INPUT FOGGY!

the seal dont have to be dry. some people actually put a little vaseline on them to make them slip a little and not get bunched up. if anything the wet rubber ring will keep it from binding up like they do sometimes when there bone dry.i had the same prob as you at one time and finnaly got it tight and never had a leak so you should be ok.
