quick question about cutting coral

One fish

In Memoriam
HelloRC. I have a frogspawn way too big for my tank. Should I cut the base of him when he is retracted(at night) or all open (when the lights are on)

Thanks! And science behind this would be cool 🐳

Ps. I got him from a coral specialty store... Not just off like craigslist or petco and the heads are way close to the base. Like they did it on purpose... I will see if I can get a photo.
Thank you!!!

A picture would be great but. . .

Cut as far down on the branch as possible, if it's soft don't cut it. Then you could glue it on a plug or a rock or whatever you want to glue it on.

I cut it with the lights on, just lightly waive your hand in front of the coral to get it to retract, pull it out and snip with bone cutters. look it up on you tube there are tons of videos.

When I fragged my frogspawn, I put him in front of the powerhead for a bit to get him to retract, before I took him out of the water. Just not too close.

As to your question it doesn't matter if it is retracted or not, when you pull it out of the water to cut it or even if you leave it in the tank, once you disturb the coral it is going to retract.
