Quieting down DOC skimmers?

Hi everyone,

I just picked up my DOC 9002 yesterday. Although I can't seem to get rid of the gurgling noise. It's driving me bonkers.

I talked to Roger and he suggested that there was air in the line and to stop and then start the pump with the venturi closed. I've tried that several times, but it's still pretty loud.

Just wondering if anyone else out there had some tips or tricks they used to quiet down their DOC skimmers.

You may need to move it slightly higher out of the water, I set up a 9002 and I cannot here any noise whatsoever.

Roger, when you say no noise what so ever, do you mean you pretty much have to walk over to the tank (and put your ear to the skimmer) to hear the bubbles and girgling? Is that how quiet it should be?

I haven't heard a properly installed Tunze skimmer gurgle, if you are about a foot away, you may hear some whistling of air but that is about it.

Ok, thanks. Maybe I'll disassemble and re-assemble. I'm sitting about 10 feet away and I'm going to have to turn it off soon cause it's just too loud.
