Thanks Matt and cFloor. I agree the turds are the most exciting although a few spectaculars never hurt. I've been pretty picky until I felt like I could sustain decent growth and color before I go for any "Walt Dazzles".

Noticed my coloration fading significantly and increase in algae so I reduced my KC down to 1ml per day for the past 10 days. Notice colors getting richer, good growth and PE.

150 gallon total volume. Didn't test. Probably should check my nitrate and phosphate but they have both always been 0. Anything else I should check?

Just wondering why your coral would be browning from the KC..
Is that a side effect from excess dosing?
Just curious because I'm pretty close to giving it a try..
I have things very stable and where I want them so I'm interested in your experience.
There have been anecdotes of increased nutrients from using the KC/Biggles juice but they are not very consistent...

I started getting some algae too. I was dosing kc at 1.4 daily. I downed it to 1 two days ago. But, I'm also feeding a lot. I'm gonna see how the algae goes with the decrease in kc. If it's still persistent I'm going back to 1.4 and I'll down my feeding.
I don't want to hijack the thread but would like to add my experience regarding this. I am exactly two months into Biggles Juice. I started at the original 5/1 Trace Hard/KC. After improvement I saw some darkening. I kept the KC dose the same but reduced the Trace Hard to a 2/1 ratio. Saw improvement.
After one month I discontinued the trace hard because I do a regular substantial water changes and more than likely replenish a lot of my trace elements. I have dosed KC at 1.5 ml for my 60 gallon system.
These last two weeks I reduced to 1ml KC daily and am enjoying growth with the best color I have ever had.
Quiver, your corals are looking excellent. Please keep posting follow up pics of the same pieces so we can see the progress.
I really like the Cali Tort. How long since it was just a plug with residual growth?

I few updates:
1. Decreased my dose of koral color to 1ml per day about a month ago. No colors are getting a bit darker again.
2. No question that the greens are affected the most. Most vivid change.
3. Algae growth slowed with lower dose. It never got out of control.
4. No change in phosphate. Has been and continues to remain 0 (Salifert).
Now for some pics:

I'm dosing the recommended amount of KC that is printed on the bottle. Roughly .4ml daily. I'm not seeing much of a change. Should I increase the dose? What are the signs of overdose?

I am now about two weeks into dosing KC and AF Micro E.
My system is 300g. I've been using 1ml KC and 6 drops Micro E. The first thing I have noticed is all around increased growth and a slight intensifying of green/yellow. But it is only two weeks in and a very subtle change.
I have also had a slight increase in nutrients despite feeding a bit less and using more po4 removers..
Also.. Not sure if it's related but about two weeks before I started dosing, I had a cyano outbreak which slowly but steadily increased in abundance, but within days of dosing KC and Micro E, it started to diminish and is now basically gone. I can't say whether this is due to the dosing or not..

Not sure of the actual biochemistry. it is part of the "Biggle Juice" experiment. Maybe Andrew knows.
I started with a huge dose (4ml per day in a 150g system) and backed it down when I saw significant algae growth and my colors getting too light (pastel) for my taste. Consider increasing would be my suggestion.
I noticed the same thing when I started. Definitely the green/yellow are the most effected. Never ever had any nutrient issues in my tank. On the contrary, I have always had undetectable NO3 and PO4. Not sure how to explain that other than the system has been up for a very long time and I have a ton of live rock. No cyano but had a definite increase in a type of fine leafy green algae but only in very select spots at my overflow intake and on my locline returns.

If you read biggle's posts, I believe it has something to do with the chromophore's sensitivity and saturation but of course I'm no expert, just sharing my observations.

I just found this thread and "a splash of color". After much reading, I'd like to give the BJ method a try. My system volume is only 40 gallons. how much KC and Lugals should I start dosing? Is it safe to dilute the lugals so my "drips" are only a fraction of a normal drip, or does mixing it with RODI water cause a reaction that would make it less potent?
