Radium bulbs

After intensive research, I think the Radium 150W 20K bulb will be the best one for my tank. Now the shopping begins.... so far Hello Lights seems to have the best deal, shipping included. Does anyone know if they're on sale anywhere else? Thanks in advance!

Try buying from Hello Light's ebay store and use the bing.com cashback thing to save another 8%. I bought my radiums when it was the bing.com 35% last thanksgiving.

i have been using 400 watt radiums on a PFO ballast for the past 6 years or so, love the color for a 1 bulb soulution.

Where did you end up getting the bulb? I'm looking for the same one

Looking around, so I haven't yet. I'll likely place my order thursday from Hello Lights, unless I find a better deal.

I finally got my bulb and installed it last night... I am extremely glad I went with Radium, the tank looks so much brighter and colorful...! I will definitely post some shots later.

Probe or Pulse start ballast?

Probe or Pulse start ballast?

I was looking at the Radium bulbs on Hellos, and it talks about it needing a pulse start ballast? It says most ballast sold in the us are probe start. Was wondering if anyone has had issues using this bulb with a regular ballast that presently runs ok with XM or SPS bulbs?

Ive heard radiums will run with regular ballasts for a few months then not. At Macna I found Ushio has 20K bulbs that will work. I bought them and installed but cant say anything yet as its only been a few days. The look is OK, growth and color we will see.

Why the change? I also run 400's alternating in my tank, I would strongly suggest just adding some actinicks or other comacts for additional light. The 400's run an average of 12000 hrs where the 250's probably 8000 and the 175's exctly half of the 400's..............rethink it :)

Hey LouPhoenix, how about some pics? I have 2x150w Phoenix and am thinking of switching to Radium very soon. Phoenix are cheaper and I have been happy with them, but the Radium get such great reviews.

Alright, here are some shots. This is only day 2 for the bulb, so some burning-in still needs to take place. Even so, I arlready like it better than any previous bulb. Enjoy!

You may want to move that Duncan towards the bottom. As far as I know they don't need to much light.

they have quadrupled in size where they are. A bunch of people swear they love light, another bunch say they don't. Either way, moving them somewhere else in my tank would mean too much flow, which everyone agrees they really don't like.

Sonic, got any shots to compare? that would be interesting to see and it might be useful for people who are trying to decide between bulbs. Comparing pics was a factor that definitely helped me decide what to get. Thanks!
