I took the bait (gift card to home depot) for an in home sales call from these guys. Their self cleaning DI resin towers sounded too good to be true. I figured if there was a way to clean resin and never have to replace it I would have heard about it on here a long time ago. I had more questions than the sales person could answer about this secret resin. Does anyone know anything about what is in the rainsoft units?

Buying a Rainsoft system was the biggest mistake I've ever made. They did not tell you the whole truth with the DI resin. Yes it's self cleaning but it needs replaced every year at the cost of $450. There system left black rings around my toilets that they call normal. I've seen no benefit to the system. Way over priced. Buyer beware!

Yeah... I kept asking her how it could never require new resin... never had an answer other than the secret crystals. I thought things were off when she said the carbon never had to be replaced. The thing that really got me was how expensive their 3 stage ro systems are and their UV sterilization kit was over 2k. I was never going to buy anything but they said it was a free water test.... I figured that meant tds pH chlormines... so I was interested in what their kits could do compared to mine. Well they never tested any of those...
