Raising Reidii babies?

I have a pair of Reidii who have now had 4 broods. The latest approximately 125 young. So far I have had no success keeping them alive for more than 1 week. I have been feeding freshly hatched brine shrimp, have also tried frozen Cylcopeze, and also have a drip from my refugium into their hatching tank. I have ordered some live Copepods to see if that is the answer.

Any suggestions?

Copepods may be the answer, thought it depends on the size. Rotifers are also a good way to start, just make sure to enrich them well. Algamac is ideal.

No just kidding Rotifers enriched. Just like you would for baby clowns
Resting Rotifers will help those little ponies

Reidi can live for the first five days without food. If they are lasting that long it has to be nutritional.

IME the best first food was rotifers. They are fairly easy to culture, but becareful not to place them to close to your green water culture.

I kept my reidi fry in green water for the first six weeks so I did not enrich the rots, or bbs during this time period.

There are also several types of small pods that can be a useful first food, but IME they are diffucult to culture in large numbers so it really depends on the amount of fry your trying to raise. Todd Gardner spoke of these different species at IMAC. Perhaps you can get the DVD on his speech about seahorse nutrition. I did not get it because I'm out of the fry raising business, but did love the IMAC speech about seahorses from last year.

Also IMO cut that line from your refugium. Things that live in your normal water column are quite cpable of killing you fry, that could also be a problem.

Algae enrinched rotifers for week 1-4, then they will be large enough to eat selco enriched nauplii. Grow them in a basket within water column(flow through) for the first 6-8 weeks as they will have an easier time eating.

ok, time for stupid question now...where might one find rotifers??
I've got a pregnant male (first pregnancy I'm going through), so I guess I need to hurry and get prepared.

I know a few places carry them, but I always get mine from aquaculturestore.com. Actually, I should say, I got them there once and have had the same culture for about 4 years. :) I just restart it as needed.

Here is how to raise that culture--Rotifers. If you can get them locally then do so as those babies need food. Getting a culture started would take too long and I'm not sure if the fry would survive. You can try using very young brine shrimp, < 18 hours old, but it may not work.

H. Reidi have really small fry thus they are difficult to raise. The nauplii is too large for them. You will definitely need to feed them enriched rotifers. Copepods are also too large for them. After 4 weeks, they should be large enough to eat copepods and nauplii.
