Rapid SPS Growth?? Need Some INcite

My Green Slimer I've had for a month now has turned white with a green pigment and its polyps are still green and out!! :frog: Could it be rapid growth? My Monti turned a peachy color and perfect white on the rim for about an inch or so in. Both were frags. BUT the monti colored back up, and seems way bigger than before. My calc is great so is mag and alk. No problems with water color. Im just now getting into sps, ive always had Lps and softies Can anyone give me any idea of what it might be?? thanks!!!

usually white tips is new growth. hard to think entire piece white is rapid growth. how did you acclimate to lights? how close to lights is it? what are some other levels in your tank(trates, phos)?

As mentioned, if tips are white, that's new growth. If the colony is white, that's bleaching. The Zoanthella have abandoned the coral.

I have a related question. If your colony was browned out due to previously high nutrients, and through lowering the nutrients it lightens up (and in some cases is like a light tan color) how do you tell if that's bleaching or if the 'natural' color is returning?

It was high in the tank. I moved it lower. The halide is 10 inches off the water in my 40B

Agreed on white tips = growth.

There are certain occasions where that dead area algae may manifest upon.
SPS's typically grow around or over it. You're fine.
