Rare looking piece (ID PLS)

This was a very expensive piece I bought about 2 years ago. Sold to me as an Alien eye chalice. Never could find anything on internet about it so looking for my RC community to help. I saw something very dull and kinda looking like it from Liveaquaria.com as Cup Coral but I highly doubt this vibrant piece is the same as what they have

It looks to be a type of Echinophyllia, maybe costata or echinata.

You might have better luck in the LPS forum. With that said colour rarely if never dictates species.

I'll have a shot. Although you should have started the thread in the LPS forum..

To me it looks like a Mycedium robokaki. I'm not sure on that though. It could also be an Echinophllia aspera.

My guess is Echinophyllia aspera. As has been mentioned, a couple of times, this is an LPS not an SPS. You'd have better luck IDing it, in the LPS ID Forum.

Sure. I can see their size pretty clearly from the image..Did you follow the link and look at the close ups for the species?
