Rare To You Swap - coral suggestions

A few people have asked me if they can get some suggestions for "rares" they can request. So here is your chance!

If you have a highly collectable coral (ie. rare) or something unsual that you think others may want to request in the swap post it here!

Posting a pic is even better!

Regardless, here's a chance to get someone else to request the a collectible/rare that you actually own.

Good luck!

Paletta Baby Blue stag
Tyree LE Ponape Birdsnest
Pokerstar Monti
Morningstar Monti
Orange Crush (is this even considered rare any more ?)
Tyree LE Ponape Torch

Those are what I can think of off the top of my head, for known, named corals :)

Mike's Blueberry Millepora
Mike's Phoenix Cap
Mike's Survivor Coral (poccilipora :D)

I do have pics.. but for the most part I'm joking because I mostly give those away :D

Off the top of my head, $500 Efflo, MANY micromussa/lord polyps that have unusual color patterns (look to JenDub.com), ummm usual colored favite(?)/favia(?) pieces, for instance blues are not very common at all (this I do have a picture of this because I have this coral is not that common). Giving specific names is hard though since it seems every big online coral place likes to give a coral they have a specific name. Although just about everything Karl has is nice :D

Btw here's one I just listed with google

Blue & Red favia.

I will do my best to take some pictures this afternoon (when we get back from picking up the food in SJ) of the micros and non-indo acans that we got from Vern this past week.

The other big thing will be that we are unsure how best to frag these LPS.. guess I will need to do a ton of reading on th topic, and soon :)

Best way to frag those suckers is with a diamond dremel or something, not that their skeletons are THAT hard but they're usually encrusted onto a good sized chunk o' rock. Try to "follow the lines" around a particular polyp. If you do get in, make sure you allow plenty of time for these guys to heal (ie don't wait until the day of the event to frag them).

But seriously, what Mike said :)

Dremel with a diamond wheel. I like to povidone dip the fresh cut lps for 10 minutes or so to irrigate the skeleton dust and mucous and reduce the chances for infection.

I can frag one polyp of this for a pink lemonade frag.

I know this is Charles' thread he started, but I'm going to take the initiative here, and say can we please not turn this into a trading thread. The thread has the purpose of giving suggestions for another thread, not trading.

Stuff that I'd like to see in the swap:

"Rainbow stylo" - wasn't a named LE, but it showed up one time last year in the Bay Area, and I think it might have been out in Sacramento too. The polyps were weird in that depending on what direction you looked at the coral, it could look green, turquoise, or violet. Kind of shimmering like an oil slick. I waited too long to get a piece and when I went back, the whole colony was gone :(

Bookfish Neon Toadstool - not the Tyree one. Jim's was entirely neon green, including the entire polyp as well as the base tissue.

Uncommon un-named chalice, lords, acros, encrusting montis, and softies

Atlantis fovealata

Blue Matrix acro

20,000 Leagues Lokani

Jendub/ReefReady micros

Pink/Red/Grape Watermelon Alien Eyes

Aquascene Golden Eye

Orenji danae

Psychedelic Chalice

Charles,

What do you think of introducing 3 trails? Maybe just go 8 participants each for a total of 24. One for SPS, one for LPS/Softies, and one with a mix. This way, more scenarios can open up.

Just a suggestion. You've done a great job so far:)

Regards,

Karl

Thanks for the suggestions and kudos, Karl. My concern about the multiple trails/strings thing is the closing the circle challenge (having person #1 meet the request of person #20 or #8)

However, I think it would keep it moving faster and create more excitement. I do sense some people are getting turned off by the delayed reward of this.

Anyways, got any suggestions for a better solution to the closing the circle problem?
