Rarest, most expensive reef fish

the baby personatus that came thru hof a few years back was sold for 15k...
she was unfortunately lost in hurricane sandy.....

rare in the trade is not often rare in the wild...
great to see all the rare fish that have become avail over the past 2 years or so...
waiting for the next batch of peps, and saying that even a few years ago would have been unimaginable...

Definitely my favourite. Ted, is this even on your list of incoming fish? I know you are waiting for a peppermint but are you planning on 1 or 2 of these?

I would take a pair of Personatus over a peppermint in a heartbeat...The pair above are in a doctor's tank in Japan.

Because of my avatar? (which is a pregnant male leafy, image taken south of Australia around kangaroo island). No, I loved watching them in the water and photographing them; it was really quite an adventure. We had to have a safety diver over the leafy to keep it from rising in the water column and getting decompression sickness. They are cold water animals (I was pretty chilled) and need live food. I saw them at the Shedd exhibit but would never even think to try them in my own tanks. Wondrous creatures though.

Apparently there are several different variants of the leafy sea dragon... very amazing creatures. I happened to stumble upon a picture of one online, and I thought, "hey, now I know what Snorvich's avatar is!"

Those two pics of the Masked Angelfish are just a top for me, Id pick those over any angelfish. Again just me.

The Spanish Flagfish is rare, gorgeous and will set you back a pretty penny! This one is at the New England Aquarium but there was one on DD last year.

Not a fish, but Pacific Giant Octopus are available in the hobby and can go for over $1k. Always wanted to do a cephalopod tank, personally.
