Just curious why would he think a fish is a fly? Did it jump out of the water at him?

Whatever the case, it sure was one bad@$$ juvenile kingi, found in shallow water and jumping out at passerby's ! :lol:

Thank you for taking your time and posting these pictures i have throughly enjoyed reading this thread.

Not sure if the mimic blenny are the right two pics though as i thought the mimic blenny had a differnt tale. Seen them out in the red sea but never in the trade, always wanted one though.

The Acanthurus Olivaceus look sooo much better in the wild. Body shape, colors are more vibrant and contrast is more pronounced IMO! :eek1::eek2::eek1:

This is a juvenile Halichoeres garnoti. They turn into pretty nasty adults. The coloration changes with age.

i've always liked the gorgonian themed reefs of the atlantic. the lack of cirrhilabrus but many halichoeres and thalassoma is refreshing.

so unlike the packed, crowded and noisy reefs of the indo pacific.

Oh those photos make me miss the Caribbean, I haven't been diving there for at least 5 years. Going to the Bahamas next March, so I should bring some photos back!

We were in the Cayman's last summer. I didn't see much, if any, acropora, but we were only snorkling, not diving.

I did manage to see a few of these guys at Rum Point.

A few from the Bahamas last week:

Holacanthus tricolor

Acanthurus coeruleus

The dives were disappointing, the water was very clear but there was a lot of sick coral and fish, the Acanthurus above is an example, all of the ones I could find had strange brown spots (the one in the photo above has a spot on top of it's head).
