I have a 90g sps,lps tank with diy cree 48 total
i was wondering how nems do with leds?
this question arises from the fact that i put an anenome in the tank three
days ago and is staying in the back right corner all the way at the top
were there is the least amount of light.

any help is appreciated thx

Hi :)

I recently set up my new system, and it runs with all LED lighting.
My anemones have gone wild, they just can't find their place. I suppose it's rather normal bahavior when the lighting changes... Only Stichodactyla tapetum and one of my three RBTA's have stayed put, the rest are wondering around :/

Did you gradually increase the intensity of your LED's after the anemone came, and what were the linghting conditions in the previous tank? It may be in shock, afterall LED light is different then say T5 or HQI...
In time the nem will find it's place, and in the beginnig it's normal for them to roam around :) Just make sure it can't get to your streams!! It might kill your whole tank if it comes anemone sushi...

this tank has been leds since i started it
when i originally set it up i acclimated my sps to the leds but have introduced the nem
with them at 50-70 percentage.
i think you may be right and it just needs to light acclimate
i attempted to move him but his foot is welded down
so im gonna leave him alone for now

I have noticed some weird behavior with my RBTA... I have had leds all along and it seems sometimes to randomly close up, sometimes it will look amazing. My water params are good. I've talked to other reefers about this and it seems like It just depends on the nem and how they react. My mini maxi loves the leds. She's grown almost 6" since i got her in diam... not so mini anymore

i am not an expert but from what i have read they naturally close up(i'm guessing to digest food or somthing of the nature)

My RBTA split once I started running LEDs

Of course, both are now wandering about the tank, but oter than that they seem healthy...

It's not uncommon for a nem to need to acclimate itself to new lighting- I've read of some that went under a rock for a week or more before slowly re-emerging into the light- or to roam around trying to find a place where the lighting and flow combined are perfect. Not all nems appreciate strong lighting and flow; what they prefer most is what they are used to.

I strongly recommend against trying to move a nem unless it is in imminent danger, such as getting too close to a powerhead intake. In such a case, waving your hand briskly near the nem will create an irritating disturbance, usually causing it to release itself within seconds. :)

I waited until i saw it about to release and put it's base in a 2 inch coupling with
small rock pieces in the bottom .
It has stayed there for about 4 days now.
Hopefully this will be it for awhile.

I have problem with my RBTA.It has pretty much clamped up for at least 2 weeks now since I fed it a good size piece of Talapia. It was happy before with the LED lights.
Any suggestions anybody? Did I feed it the wrong food?

Maybe too much food, as the item may start rotting befor it's digested properly or expelled. Check your parameters and/or do a good water change but otherwise keep the flow and lighting the same as when it was happy. I've had maxi carpets under LEDs for two years now and I've had my rbtas under LEDs since I got them 2 months ago, all doing great.
