RBTA is splitting

I've had this nem for several years. It was large when I bought it so I was hoping a split would come soon. Fed it fed it fed it. Finally thought it was never going to happen. Fed it last night and didnt notice anything unusual, and it ate fine. This morning I took a look and it didnt look right. I put a light on it and holy crap its splitting. Already halfway through.

I was hoing it would continue at a fast rate but it seems to have stalled atleast or the moment. Possibly while tissue heals and it gets ready for the finish? It hasnt developed any new mouths yet so I suppose it wont be feeding for some time. I know some who's BTA's have taken a long time to split. How long does it usually take?

Here's a nother pic taken a few hours later. In the first there was still a bit of tissue connecting the first half split, and here it is completely seperated thru. No sign yet of where the final split is going to occur.

Well technically it is still night for about another 8 hours. I'd guess its been in the process for the last 10-12 hours tops.

One of mine started to split (see photo) and then put itself back together again a day later. That particular nem never has split. You could probably cut yours if it doesnt finish the split.

THat guy looks like it got sucked into whatever its attached to. Was any foot attached to the upper torn off part or is it just the oral disc?

I am contemplating giving it the cut. The split hasnt progressed too much farther since this morning. However there does appear to be the beginning of a tear on the opposite of the mouth from last nights split. Gonna give it overnight again and if it doesnt split I'll probably cut it.

Mine usually split in 12 hours or so, but once I had one that there was still a thread of flesh for almost a week.

I noticed it's on the side of the tank, is that where it normally stays or did it just move there for the split? Either way, it's unusual, from my experience, that a BTA isn't attached to the liverock.

Its been moving around a bit lately. Not sure why aside from possibly it was getting ready to split. There's nothing in the tank for it to harm so I let it do its thing, just gotta watch it when it gets near a PH.

My GBTA did that very exact thing the day after I got him . The very next day he pulled himself back together and now he's like 4 times bigger than he was when I got him. I just fed him yesterday and he grabbed the food quickly and ate with no problem . No loss of Zoozanthellae(sp?) either .
