RBTA spawning - sex of anemone

My rbta's recently spawned in my tank. All of them in the tank were splits from the original rbta except for one recent addition. I also noticed that this new recent addition to the tank had a string of eggs coming from it's mouth. My question is: If an anemone is a male and it splits, is the split the same sex? If so, by introducing an anemone of the opposite sex, could this have caused the spawn?

Yes. All the clones are genetically identical to the original.

The addition of the new anemone may have been the trigger that caused the spawn. What did you do with the eggs?

The eggs where in a string floating up from the anemone's mouth. I siphoned some of them out and put them in a cup. There is something that looks like a small red dotted ball, something that looks like a small red ball and some other particles that look like pepper.

Neat! You should keep detailed records and take lots of pictures--maybe you could end up submitting a write-up to a magazine.
