rbta split into 3

My RBTA was looking poorly. I was feeding, checking water, etc. Then it split. Now I assumed split meant into two. But there are three now. It's been three days and they still haven't recovered.

So I'm assuming it's not always split into two. How common is it to split into three or more? Will they relocate or stay together?

Probably split due to stress if it didnt look good. What are your water params.

Mine recently split into 3. I didn't know what was wrong. I'm assuming it was stress because they have only been in my tank for about a month before the split. Now all 3 are recovering nicely and since then have moved around the tank. It takes weeks for them to recover.

Water params are all good. Calcium 450, alk 8.4, ammonia 0, nitrates 0, ph 8.2, mag 1450. It was looking real good and getting larger then it started looking bad and split in about a week. I'll just have to wait on the three to see how they do.
