I've got everything tuned to manufacturers recs. Geo 6x24. around 40 bubbles per min and 50ml/min effluent. I use salifert test kits and their pH kit only goes as low as 7.4.

How can I test effluent to see if it's 6.5-6.7?

any suggestions?

will it mess up my pH probe calibration to carry some effluent up stairs and dip it in effluent?

fill a container wth about 2" of effulent use a PH meter and test it . It will not harm your probe

I would just buy a PH controller for your co2.

I've got a Neptune AC Jr with ph probe, but it's a PITA with the conrtoller, probe, and DC8 up stairs and the reactor and sump downstairs.

But for now I'm just trying to figure out my effluent's pH to help dial it in.
