Receiving lrg red haddoni !!! Need acclimation tips ??

i am no expert but please dont feed it now. you are doing more harm than good by feeding it now.

+1. I didn't even feed mine for a good 5 weeks when I first got my red haddoni. I think it stresses them out more than anything. By the way, beautiful nem!

Hi, Most people don't feed silver sides any longer. Some say, that they have caused the death of their nems. Nice looking NEM:)

Congrats on the Haddoni. He looks good!

Sounds like you are on the right path with respect to your acclimation process. It also appears as though your sandbed is deep enough to make the nem happy. Should it move or not stay where you like it I would higly suggest you try Ousnakebyte's PVC trick. He has been using it for over 10 years and I have been using it for a few months successfully.

Before I tried the trick my nem would only stay in one place for about 2-3 weeks at a time. Like clockwork he would move looking for a more secure environment. Since I started using the PVC trick he hasn't moved at all. He also inflated to almost twice the size. As you can see from the pic below the 6" PVC pipe is hidden and the nem is not fully inflated.

Beautiful haddoni. Looks like it's been in your tank for a long time rather than just acclimated. If only all anemones could ship and look that good.

Your anemone looks great.

IMHO, When inceases or decreases light, I would change in the intensity of the light, not the duration of it. It he is going to get sun burn from that intensity, then 6 hr vs 12 hr would still causing sun burn or damage. It is possible that the 6 hr exposure cause less damgage than 12 hrs. Now it you give him 1/2 intensity for 12 hrs it would not cause damage, then increase the intensity every few days to let him addapt to it.

I would use eggcrate and put something that would not burn to block some of the light, or raise the light fixture. I would not change the duration of daylight. Just my opinion. I normally don't worry about increase or decrease light level unless I see some problem or unless I know for sure that there is drastic changes.

If your anemone is doing well, which he is , with 6 hrs, then he will do fine with 10 or 12 hrs. I often use 14 hr day light due to the fact that I leave early and get home late. Also I know that I cannot possibly provide as much light as some of these animal used to in the wild so I compensated by increase lenght of daylight. Is there any prove that this works? No, just that my aquarium seem to do fine.

Thanks bro for the output I forgot to mention this that I been using eggcrates well and figure light duration might help also ....
Any ways it's not much work for me to increased the light cycle it's just a click ....I will do so ..
Thanks
Also is it normal for anemones to show up with mouth open and takes days for them to settle down ..he planted his foot 1st in just couple hours and was even sticking to container during acclimation and also sticky when I fed him second day not since than thou ...but what's up with open mouth ...
