Red Carpet Anemone... Help!

Had a beautiful red carpet anenome for about a week... it was about 16 inches wide.... was doing great it seems... although i would feed it some krill and it would attach to the tentacles but i never saw it eat it..

in any case, it looked great before i went to dinner tonight... came home and looked at the tank... the lights were off because of the timer.... he had shrunk down to maybe 6 inches wide... but it was more like the mouth has expanded to 4-5 inches and the red tentacles were only 2-3 inches wide (compared to 6-8inches)... the mouth seems to be inverted... some brown stringy stuff can be seen coming out of the mouth too

i was shocked to see the sudden change.... it looked great 3 hours ago... my other anenome and fish and corals seem to be doing fine... i assume there is really nothing i can do but wait and see but any suggestions would be helpful

It's either expelling waste or Zoothanthellae. The later may be a problem, but only time can tell. Let us know how it looks after the lights have been back on for a few hours.

looks better this morning... mouth is a bit bigger than normal but the rest of the body is inflated almost to regular size...

man, it looked like it was a goner last night... first time i saw it do that...

ohoh.. now its deflated again and the mouth got bigger... stringy stuff coming out the mouth and my purple tang is picking on it...

i have a picture.. how do i post it on the forum?

showphoto.php

is the picture.... thanks for any comments

The picture file size limitation of pictures on ReefCental is so ridiculously low that the gallery, even when it is not offline, is so useless now.

yeah..i had to downsize it like 10 times before it would be accepted..

any other suggestions on how to post pictures would be appreciated

You can leave the picture size at about 600X400 pix but use your solfware to compress the hell out of it. Compressed it with photo shop use setting of 1 or 2 instead of 12 (no compression)

I am sorry your carpet is not doing well. Red Carpet got to cost quite a few pennies to buy

Host the original pic at photobucket.. you can get a free account.

So sorry your carpet isn't doing good :(
