Red carpet on the way....maybe?

I would not recommend shippning the anemone the same day it eats...
I'll make sure to send Dave an email asking him not to feed Wednesday. Thanks for the tip.

Eating and very sticky are great signs. I think if I was in your position I would most probably buy the carpet. When's the last time you saw a red carpet going for $200? =)
My thoughts exactly! I sure hope I get lucky with this beauty! Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Dave sent me this pic today. Anemone is still looking well. Mouth fully closed and all other signs are good. It ate yesterday and kept it down. Dave will not feed it today or tomorrow since were shipping Wednesday.

Yes indeed! I love that one! WOW that color is great (although I'd like to see it under lighting other than actinic ;))!

That was 175w MH 14K Hamilton.;) No actnics needed in my tank.

Heres a 250w 10K XM,One of the ugliest brightest yellow bulbs in the world.

If you see my frogspawn up above it look almost yellow/see through with this lighting. And that red shroom isnt even a plain red. Its candy red. But the anemone still looks like a blue.

The rows of tentacles, well there should be none. The tentacles should all look like evenly spaced buds everywhere.

Dual 250w XM 10k

My XM 15K should be coming in any day. They are a crispl white/blue and Ill post more pics.

Good Luck with you RC and please keep us posted.

Thanks

Sam

IME I like to go into the LFS when they get shipments in, before they even open the bags up and drop them into their selling tanks. Simply because you have a better chance of anything going straight to your tank/QT tank and it living. But then again you dont see RC's at LFS's to often.

The catching/bagging(holding tank)/ship to US Wholesaler(another holding tank, and they are usually medicated)/ship to LFS acclimate to their tank/buy and acclimate to home tank. Its alot of stress:(

Sonof gladriel, I think I'm almost as excited as you are about it's imminent arrival ! Be sure to post some pics of your own when it's settled

I haven't been this anxious/excited to get a coral since my first blue tort 4 years ago :)
Its comming tomorrow morning! I'm actually taking the day off work to get it acclimated and spend some time enjoying it. I'll post some pics after its settled in.

I've had a few threads on the large tank forum and the SPS forum.
Here's my 'Thread of the Month' documenting the building of my cube, although most of the pics have been deleted:

Here's one showing a video of my reef before the SPS crash:

I've since cleared out the middle portion of the tank to make room for this red carpet, until its own tank is ready for it.

Apparently I need to spend more time in the Large Tanks Forum. I generally don't, because it just makes me feel bad about my own setups when I see such nice setups that other people have!!

Dang man, nice setup!! I *love* multi-angle viewable tanks (i.e., 3 sides or all 4 sides). Much nicer than a one-side-only inwall setup. I myself am wrestling with the concept of how to arrange my 280g, I would like to do an inwall setup so I can have the tank room in behind, but if I could somehow make it a peninsula so that I could have the multi-face aspect as well. Of course the front is starphire and the back is not, so I might have to settle for front and one side. :( Oh well, apologies for the hijack, shouldn't ramble on. At least Thursday is now only 1 day away, can't wait to hear about it when the carpet arrives. :)

Just finished reading the threads. Fabulous ! What have you planned for the Hadoni's tank ?
For now, it will go into the 240. I've opened up a large area on the sand bed for it. I have a 24x24x16 tank that will be ready for it in about a week. In late November, it will be moved to its own 36x36x18 tank that will only be sand, no rock. All the rock will be in the sump. Its the 36x36x18 that I hope to house at least one other hadonni, a nice royal blue and maybe a nice yellow/green too. I think it would look nice to see a few colorful carpets on a simple bed of white sand.

A deep sand bed ?

Yes, deep sand bed.
Anemone arrived in good shape this morning. I spent 2 hours drip acclimating it and put it in the tank. I placed it in a ceramic bowl full of sand with the hopes it will sink its foot there which will make moving it to the new tank easier later on.
It is gaping a little bit and a little deflated. It had fully attached its foot to the bucket during acclimation, but it has not yet attaced its foot inside the tank. It seems to be taking some time to acclimate to the actual tank.
I'll post some new pictures later this evening.

The two things I would worry about during acclimation and initial settling in period is temperature (i.e., don't want it to get cold during the drip, but sounds like this is done now so no worries) and oxygen.

The gaping is usually a sort of attempt to get more O2 so what I would consider is something that can temporarily increase O2 saturation of the water. This could be an airstone near the anemone, or a venturi on a powerhead. Either way, put bubbles in that water. It's only going to be for a day or two.

Anyhow best of luck!!
