Red Doreensis

Yes, I agree that the blue gig may or may not need treatment. It looked good when I was there yesterday--really nice baby blue column too. It wasn't expelling anything and the tentacles had good extension. It's a big one -- probably 16"+ when fully inflated and happy.

The mag had some tentacles that were deflated and the mouth was open, exposing the siphonoglyphs. But my experience with treating mags with Cipro is 100% success, while for gigs the % is much lower. If I was in the market for a mag, I would buy it and treat it and wouldn't be too concerned.

This is the picture Joe send me. Neat. I am really not have the space to handle 3 new anemones, three species at one time so I have to pass on it. It I am not committed to buying the other two I would get him. Somebody aught to get this guy and keep document what happen to this bud.

I would rather buy an untreated mag than a treated one. I've bought a couple mags from liveaquaria lately that were completely unresponsive to treatment. The ones I got from Petco about a year ago were much more receptive.

That is the same reason why I so far avoided re-treating my first purple gig. It deflated a bit a few times but does not otherwise decline. I'm not even sure it is actually sick, maybe it is just unhappy or readjusting to the new location. If I treat it again the outcome is highly uncertain and I may just kill it.

I currently have a mag I treated for 7 days and it continues to deflate every 2 or 3 days, but then looks incredible. It's been doing this cycle for 6 weeks now. It was dispelling zooxanthellae for the first couple weeks, but now it just deflates only to return to being larger than or equal to before. At this point I think it's probably going to make it, but the deflation is less than confidence building. This is the only liveaquaria mag I've got to make it over the 2 week guarantee period.

I just pick him up 1 hr ago. I was only able to bring him home and dump him into my hospital tank, turn down the flow a little and run right back to work. Picture 5 mins after he got into my hospital tank. Very nice color if I have to say so myself. I am happy.
The other anemone is the anemone Vincent send me. Hotly debated as to the species in another thread.

I'm glad that they arrived safely. The second nem really does look like a mag, especially the color of the tentacles and base. I never saw them at the shop, but based on the previous photos I thought they were BTAs. Now I'm not so sure.

That red LTA has insane red color, Very nice!!!!

I also thought the other one was a BTA too, mainly because of the long pointed tip tentacles

Here is a picture this afternoon. In person, it is even redder than this. I need to take my SLR out to take more accurate picture of this anemone.
