redbug plan- What do you think?

any down side?

any down side?

What do you think about my plan to save the pods in my sump and refu? Any down side to it?

Seems like if you take the sump and fuge offline and run them for long enough w/o sps that it should work.

Probably squirt some phyto in their periodically for the pods.

I was thinking of doing the same thing. I would have to get an extra heater/fan for temp control of the display. Then I could move all the shrimps/crabs to the sump. Does interceptor Kill starfish?

I would do the reccomended dose for 12 hours versus the 3x for 8. In Bornamens article he says the durations more importiant than the dose.

So longer dose time 12 hr but still at 3x or 2x?

I've read somewhere that if given some time without a SPS host these bugs CAN die? like a week or so in QT????

Do you have crabs in the tank? Are you going to try to move them to the Sump?
I'd hate to have to lose my Acro Crab... I wonder if I put him in the sump, would he survive and how would i ever find him again to put him back on his Acro?

I found red-bugs over an ugly acro; can't see them on anything else but my Bali-green-slimer is now brown/bleaching and very little polyp extension. Can't see the bugs on it but I could on the afore mentioned acro. Other smoothish acros are also looking sick and showing bleaching signs.

Are Hairy acros, like millies, hit by the bug? Are Pocillapora ? How about montiporas? In my tank the acro-millies and pocilliapora are looking fine as are montipora digitata and caps. However, my other montis are looking like they are bleaching and the polyps are not coming out. My idaho grape that was a fast grower has stalled and looks very sick.

from what i understand redbug don't like the hairy acro and millies or caps. But I have too many sps and can't take them all out just to nuke them only. I hope to save as many crabs as I can but I know some will be toast:( will move as many as I find to the refu. My main fear is a big die off of all pods in the tank and the spike that will happen a few days later.

How did your treatment go. I think I may treat my tank this weekend. Did you get a spike or anything?

So far so good.Stress all week about it and it seem fine no spike yet.Hope I didn't give the bug to you last time?

nope, I have then on a different corals. The ones you passed to me are doing great. I was reading you post and relized I have the same problem. I really need to set up a QT tank.

I always have crushed interceptor on hand ready when I trade for frags, I put it into the bag with the corals, leave the bag floating in my sump for 6 hours, and then do the 15 minute iodine dips before putting it in my qt tank.
