redtop03's 360 gallon plywood adventure

I see what your saying, but I am assuming that the weight of the glass wouldn't be pulling against the silicone......The weight of the water would be pushing outward against the glass taking the weight off of the "pulling down" force......Again I'm going to be using acrylic and it's more a pressure seal than with the glass install, but would assume it to be the same in principle....

the weight of the glass wouldn't be pulling on the silicon after the water is in there, but before the water went in was my concern.....after the silicon has fully cured,I thing it could hold the glass easily without any extra support, but I kinda rushed mine a little....it was about 36hrs from the glass install until I started added water, the silicon felt cured everywhere that it could be touched, but there's no way it could have been cured all the way through....so the glass weight was a concern for me :D

have you got any more done to your tank ?

Willie, I have a bit more action on my build thread there now.

yeah, no ledge for me, just silly cone;)

I will get back to busting this tank out, now that I have my boat running perfectly:)

Hey Willie, have you started on the rest of your dream setup yet? Any updates?

I ain't done much to the tank in a while now...I'm saving for the OM wave maker....once I get that,I think my equipment will be OK for a while, then I can start saving for the finishing touches to the stand and wall around it....I did get my 20g chaeto fuge going.....here are some pics of that......I had a HOB CPR fuge,so I hung it on there, but I don't know if I'll keep it or not, thought about putting some rubble in it for the pods to live,it has about 3" of sand in it,and a MJ 1200 pumping water through it.....I put a MJ 1200 on the bottom of the 20g to keep the chaeto turning

Looking good Willie. How are the fish liking all that room?

they love it...I just had the 3 tangs,a pair of perculas,a 6 line wrasse,a PJ cardinal,a royal gramma,and a psychedelic dragonette....

my sister decided her tank was too much to take care of so I got her bubble tip anemone, hard tube coco worm, another pair of percs, all her snails,50 or so scarlet leg hermits,2 yellow gobys, another 6 line wrasse, and a green spot dragonette and all her rock.......her 6 line and dragonette are in the sea horse tank.......I just kinda threw her rock in the tank,to keep it alive,I gotta do a lot of reaquascaping now....I've probably got 450 to 500 lbs of rock now :D

thanks to sis,I did get a new coral....a Green Goniopora...they're so cool,it was opened up in the LFS tank about the size of a soccer ball, closed up its about the size of a tennis ball :)

Wow.. That sounds awesome. I want to see a pic when you get a chance. How are the clown pairs getting along? I have 3 mated pairs and I would really like to put all 3 pairs in the 1000 gallon. I think if I can get the anemones spread out so the clowns aren't close to each other they should be fine. Maybe some aquascaping so they can't see each other easily.

I'll take some pics after I get all the rock situated and the water clears :)

the clowns are doing great, they're all hanging out together.....the 2 I had,I don't think ever paired up,but the 2 my sister had are the 2 I had before with my sea horses.....they were spawning in the sea horse tank, before I took it down.....I have 2 bubble tip anemones now,and the clowns don't seem to be interested in either of 'em yet

I tell people I have crabs and goniopora......they look at me like I'm contagious are something

I would not worry much about the silicone. I am still trying top remove my panel the silicone just will not let go. I have 1000 pound pushing on it and nothing. I am going to add more soon.
The silicone can hold alot, it may let water out but the glass is not going anywhere.

thats kinda what I thought....it holds to glass better than acrylic and you're having a time trying to get your acrylic loose from it.....it bonds well to the sweetwater paint also......I'd really hate to be going through what you are right now,but hang in there, you'll get it out

here's some more pics of before I added my sisters 100+ lbs of rock and after.....the water hasn't cleared completely yet,but it don't look too bad :D
