How is the hippo tang doing Willie? Is she getting chased around?

she's doing great

I meant to tell what happened and forgot.......I had it in the 30g that I was using for a fuge, the 30g got busted while we were moving in the 360 stand....about 15 gallons of saltwater in the floor :(

I didn't have a choice but to put the hippo in with the rest of the fish in the120g ......it immediately buddied up with the other 2 tangs and they're all getting along fine,

actually, all my fish have always got along great, except the bi-color angel (its now in my sisters tank) he wanted to pick at the naso tang, the royal gramma and occasionally my six line wrasse.....but they wouldn't take any crap from him,so he'd always back off :D

the hippo wasn't the first in the 360 though...... little turd hid in a rock when I was moving everything to the 360,I couldn't find it anywhere, didn't know what happened to it,but in a little while it was out swimming around in the 360,so I didn't have to net it again :)

...I've been lucky so far,my only casualty was the pearl goby,it jump out of the seahorse tank....I didn't have the tops on it yet :(

Now that's funny...

I have built a temporary light rack to raise my lights with.........with all 4 MH's on,you can tell the center 2 lights are brighter than the 2 outer lights by the cross brace shadow.....the outer lights are using the odyssea ballasts and the original supposed to be 12k bulbs(more like 10k) ,the center lights are using the lumatek ballasts and the pheonix 14k bulbs

but at least,my lights are spread out more evenly now over the tank

That looks really good. I think you have the height just right. I think it brightened up a lot just by moving the lights up.

Tank is looking awesome. Now I want mine finished..

I have the lights 15" above the water surface.....I was trying to get it 14"...,I don't know where I miscalculated at,but it looks pretty good there :)

I want to build a rack from aluminum angle and use the DIY Lumenarc style reflectors with T5 supplemental......I don't know if I'll ever change that though.....so much other stuff I need first....but if I live long enough,I'll eventually get it all done :)

mightyevil, right now I'm just waiting on more money,I'm still looking for a tank that I can use for a fuge,if I find one,I think I have enough stuff to hook it up,other than that I'm just waiting.....I've still not decided what I want to do to the front of the stand, whether to install doors or just box it up solid, all the maintenance is gonna be done from the back anyway.....right now though I want to get all the equipment into place,I may need doors on the front after its all said and done with the equipment ;)

I think the doors would be a heck of a lot of help, especially if you are feeling old one day (happens to me all the time) and you dont want to go around to the tank room, you can just acces it from the front. Not only that but sometimes things fall over to one side and if you have no access from that side, it can just frustate people sometimes. What I thought about doing was making the whole front and back panels detachable (with magnets or some darn thing...I dunno), that way its much much much easier to work on something down there if something goes wrong.

I'll probably go with the doors....I'll have doors above the tank for feeding,so it wouldn't look right without the doors on the bottom....but like you said,I may just make panels that I can set in or take out easily...just so they match the top doors......I'm thinking I'll paint the stand with the textured paint like I used on the glass frame of the tank and accent with oak molding and build oak doors...I first planned to build bookshelves on each end of the tank, but I think I'll need the room in the fish room for other things,so I'll just box the ends in solid, and I still need to remove the wall thats behind my tank right now.........all this is still a long ways away yet

I'm hoping to have my ro/di filter on 1 side of the tank with the collection can.....and all my electrical on the other side....I'm only gonna have about 4 ft. behind the tank,so it don't leave much room for all the stuff I'd like to have.....I want a second fuge and I want a frag tank,so what ever I set up may pull double duty as a frag/refugium if I can figure out how to get one in there....and also I want a quarantine tank set-up in there somewhere

Well, I guess you better get to it Willie cause that a whole lot of want :D . Seems to me like you are going to have a sweet set up once its all done. One that some of us can only dream of having

You have the fiberglass and epoxy experience now. Just start custom making frag tank, fuge, etc. You can make it to fit...

that is true.....probably be more expensive than a store bought aquarium though :D

I found a 12g I think I'll try to use it for my chaeto...no sand or anything else, and maybe set up something else as a second fuge....I'd like to try the mangroves sometime and see how they'd grow in my system,I just think their neat looking :)

I don't know how much the 12g is, but if you want something small. You can get a 10g from wal-mart for $10 and a 20g from petsmart is somewhere around $20.

Depending on what you're looking for, on my 75g, I used two 18g storage containers that I got from home depot for $3 each. I used one for sump and one for fuge. Cut a hole in the side and plumbed them together. I'll take some pics. They work pretty good for me. I got 36g for $6.

Matt,that looks good......it's a 20g aquarium I found,don't know what I was thinking when I typed 12g.....and I already have it...free...;)...just have to drill and install a bulkhead that I don't have yet....
