redtop03's 360 gallon plywood adventure

well you will have to have them on all your outputs then.if you only put them on just a few they wont work cuz it take preshure to make them work right and if there is less resistance from one of the other outputs the water will flow there first...the pressure needs to be equal on all out puts ..is the hammerhead a pressure pump i cant remember?

The Hammerhead is a flow-biased pump 5800gph at 0 head, 5500 gph at 4' head. It can handle about 20' head pressure before significant drop off in flow. It won't have any problem doing anything Willie wants to do with it :D

Willie, If you go with option 3, you should have close to 950-1000 gph out of each outlet.

yep, with design 3 there will only be 6 outputs, with the other 2 designs I would have 4 more outputs so I would need 10 of the accelerators...I don't think the hammerhead is a pressure pump, this is from the web site about the hammerhead

""The Hammerhead is the most powerful pump in its class. This energy efficient pump is ideal for 300-500 gallon aquariums with sump return systems requiring a minimum of 15 feet static head.
This unit is rated for a maximum flow rate of 5800gph, a shut off head of 23 feet and maximum wattage of 350/ 3 amps. Using a 1/3 horsepower Baldor TEFC Motor manufactured in the USA.""

thats true..still 5500gph through a sump is wicked fast i think

He's using it on a closed loop. It would be a typhoon through the sump

I guess I can live with that  I might try to create my own nozzles, based on the accelerators,I think I can make them, but what they would look like might be a different story :D

thanks Matt, you are replying faster than I can :lol:I don't think the baffles in my sump could handle the hammerheads flow,it'd tear em out

you could do something like this to make a pvc inducer well kinda..

pvc-spread.jpg

..all i did to this is cut it, heat it, push it in so the water coming out would be more of a spread out of my closed loop...you could puts in the opposite way so it pinches off the water to increase the felicity and leave a ring in the front ....does that make sence ???

That's a good idea for some inexpensive nozzles.

I just woke up again  you guys might think that blowing the baffles out of my sump, with the hammerhead would be fun to see,and it would  but not nearly as funny as seeing a grown man crying and whining when he had to clean up the aftermath

see i have some good ideas....from time... to ..........time.................is it my time yet???? :D

I think it's a good idea, can you tell much difference in the flow in yours from just an elbow fitting?

much wider! i had it on the reg way and it was to much of a beating of a flow i thought....i wanted to make it broader and go to the bottom closer to the corner and thats what i came up with...

its not an inducer its more of a flow spreader the way i have it....i could put a good flow through it and it spreads out very far with out it being like a stream.

thats what I want too,I don't like the pinpoint flow, that'd be like using a pressure washer on the coral........does the store bought inducers spread the flow or make it more pinpoint?
